Hello! I had surgery on 11/8. I had a complication and had to stay on liquids for almost 4 weeks. I then went on to pureed for 2 w and at 6w my surgeon says go on to solid foods. However, I don't have my nutrition class this week due to the holidays, so I go next week a week late. I am finding that I actually feel week and hungry and don't make it 3 hours until my next meal. i also find that I a lot because I am overeating and eating too quickly, even though my intake is under 2 oz. Anyone else? Does anyone else have any guidelines on how much volume we should get at 6w out? I know each surgeon is different. I also had a large weight loss early on but for the last two weeks I think I have lost 3lbs total. I think I am considered a "light weight" by actual weight, but I am only 5'2 so it is all relative. I'll give you my diet at six weeks out (had surgery on the 11th) & see if it helps? B: 1 egg, 1 T Oatmeal or cream of wheat, 1 T of fruit L: 1 oz protein, 1 T mashed carrots, 1 T mashed potato, 1 T fruit oh - D: same as lunch - then there's a protein drink/snack between meeals - Basically it feels like I'm eating something practically all day - BUT the portions are so small - & there is water in between - so it's not really true & I do TRY to eat my meal in the 20 minute guideline. I have the same issue about tossing food & feeling weak - so eating more often & higher protein food seems to help... - if I don't eat regularly - then I eat too fast - So for me - the eating a few bites every couple of hours - even if it's a spoon of peanut butter - seems to help me from throwing up - which I really really hate & I avoid chicken - can't do even the tenderest of chicken - You know what does go well though is a piece of thin ham with cream cheese in the middle... or though we're supposed to cut back on carbs - I have a small bagel chip with some pimento cream cheese on it once or twice a day. What kind of complication did you have by the way?

Roni, I had surgery 11/4 and I'm eating... Am: 6 oz carb countdown choc milk or S/F carnation instant breakfast Brk: 1 egg OR 1/3 c cottage cheese Lun: 1 string cheese OR thin sl deli meat w/cheese Dnr: 3 lil smokies & 5 pcs of baby greens(salad) OR 3 med shrimps I also eat Campbell carb request soup-Mediterrean turkey meatballs (I eat the meatballs only 1/2 can is 3 carbs) I drink some of the broth an hour later! I still can't eat alot at one meal or I barf or feel like I'm going too! My doc doesn't allow protein shakes but advises us to add protein powder to our food (cottage cheese or low carb yogurt)! Wow, Great weight loss!!! You and I started at the same weight I've lost 35 lbs so far. I'm 5 5 1/2. I'm feeling great and I hope you are feeling great too!! I had a two week plateau during week 3 & 4 but then lost 6 lbs overnight...SO DON'T WORRY!!! Good luck with the food and Happy Holidays!! Summer
