Hi everyone, I am almost 4 weeks post-op and I'm concerned that I am able to eat ANYTHING! I had my lapband put in on Nov 26 2004 and have not been sick one time. I did fall on Dec. 12 and hit the ground with a twist, but I still have not felt sick over eating anything. I am eating less but do look forward to getting a fill as I'm wondering if something has gone wrong with the band. Thus far I have lost about 25 lbs. I am concerned...any advise? Greer

I didn't have the lap band, but wanted to let you know I haven't gotten sick at all, but have felt nauseated at different times. I don't think 25 lbs is bad at all!! Way to go!! When I decided to have surgery, I considered both options, the lap and the rny. Isn't there something that the dr. checks that can change the band so that you can't eat as much or something? Oh I guess you didn't say...are you able to eat much at one time? I just thought I remembered that they could adjust the band. Can you eat hamburger?? I just have to ask, it makes me feel SO sick, so I don't eat it anymore! Good luck to you!!!

I was all set to have the lap band so I did alot of research on that. From what I learned with the lap band you don't get sick very often because you aren't changing the way your body system is set up. Also with a lap band they put it in and want to focus on you healing first, then they will work with making sure the band is full enough to be the most efficient. Now I've had the RYN. I'm a sweets eater and my Dr. said this is the best surgery for sweet eaters because it will make me sick. But I haven't gotten sick on anything either. All though I follow my Dr's diet very closely. So all in all I don't think you should be concerned at all.

Have you asked on the lap band message board? you'll probably get better answers from people who have had your type of surgery. at any rate, best of luck, and congratulations on your weight loss so far.
