My Dog is Getting Fat!
I laugh as I post this because it seems funny, but it is something to think about...
I keep feeding my Dog what I can't eat. I know, I know, dogs are meant to eat dog food - but, who hasn't fed their dog from the table from time to time.... As I was just now, watching my dog finish up the bean with bacon soup I didn't finish - I noticed he was starting to get a little chubby and it dawned on me that it is not good for my dog to be fat anymore than it is good for me to be fat......
So, just keep this in mind: Just because you can't eat it all, doesn't mean you should give it to your dog, your cat, your kids or your spouse! If you love them, either save the food as left overs, or let it go down the garbage disposal as I plan to do in the future.
It's one of those habbits I have to break - cleaning my plate (either myself or my dog, because I won't eat leftovers and otherwise it goes to waste and, after all, per my mother and grandmother there are children starving in China!). So I thought I would bring it up as something others might want to check themselves (and thier dogs/cats/kids/spouses) on as well.
Dannielle,
Girl i can totally relate to you!!! I have 2 dogs a maltese and a yorkie and they have both put on a few pounds after my surgery. I am allowed to eat tuna now and i buy the small cans but i never fini**** and i hate to put it in fridge, i dont feel its as fresh and tastes yucky! so what do i do???? I mix it in their dog food, they love it!!! but now that you bring it up, you are soo right! I will now throw away any left overs or try and buy everything in mini size! My dogs and i thank you! lol!
Oh you can eat Tuna - here is something to try (it actually tastes okay the next day too, so if you can't fini**** its okay to save):
Kroger packages chicken the same way tuna is packaged. I've seen canned chicken before but it was never very good, still I tried the Kroger Chunk Chicken in Water and it is wonderful! The consistency is a bit smoother than chicken and it tends to be very moist and shredds easily with a fork - Its a really nice switch from tuna when that tuna gets boring!
Best!
