Are you cold???
I have been absolutely freezing since I had my surgery. I can't get warm at all, unless I stand in a hot shower for a long time. Before surgery I was sooooo hot all of the time! Is it something to do with metabolism? I was just wandering if anyone else has this problem or if anyone knows what causes it?! Any info would be greatly appreciated!!! Amanda
Yes I was a hot flash moma!!!Now I get so cold.(nov.24th 2004 open RGYN) I never wore socks now I had to go by me some my feet stay cold.I might have to get a new coat for Christmas because I am cod with just a sweater now.My sister said I would get this way.she had the WLS 5 years ago.I just couldnt see me with long sleaves on.HA I wear them noe for sure.I see my Dr. this Tuesday to weigh in for the first time.Iam doing good I think.

I'm cold off and on, which is so weird, 'cause I've been the fat chick sweating when everyone else is shivering for years! My son loves it...he says I've been freezing him to death for 15 years! I always kept the furnace at 65, now it's up to 69, and sometimes he even complains about being too warm. I actually wear flannel PJ's now, and long sleeves sometimes. I even wore my winter coat the other day, and I've nevr put on a coat til Jan or Feb before, when it gets bitterly cold. I hate when I feel like I just can't get warm, like my bones are frozen...I usually end up sitting in a hot bath til I'm cooked through.
OMG,
Yes I am cold. I used to be the "walking furnace" and wouldn't even wear a coat in the middle of winter if I was just running to the grocery, Target, etc. People used to make comments to me all the time, like, "Where's your coat; aren't you freezing?" Well, I have been doing this again this year (my winter coat doesn't fit me yet), and I am just F-F-Freezing! I even turned up the thermostat in the house.
Okay here's my idea as to why this is happening (sorry I am a nurse so I think that way!); when your metabolism is working you will feel warmer, and now our body has slowed the metabolism somewhat because we are essentially starving ourselves. So naturally when the metabolism slows down, you get colder easier. Unless you all have lost a lot of your "blubber"/insulation; that will also make you colder. I know for myself I have not lost enough of my blubber to make an insulation difference.
Good topic; seems we are all getting colder.

Yep, me too! I have been sleeping so much better because I actually have to snuggle into our down comforter. Before my feet were hanging out because they were too hot! Not any more! The other night I was washing my daughter's hair, and she kept saying that my fingers were like ice... I just knew that the water sure felt good on em!
Another chilly WLS-buddy,

I use to ALWAYS be hot - day and night! But now I'm often chilly. I didn't even expect it to happen this quickly, but I started noticing it the week OF my surgery (right after surgery). I think next summer will be much more tolerable for me and can't wait!
My Dr. said it's not only because the fat is melting away but because our bodies are like furnaces now, burning fat all the time which, in turn, makes us COLD!
It's the weirdest feeling ever as I'm so use to being hot.
I was FREEZING the first few weeks....no I am just mildly cold most of the time.... I wear sweatshirts (which I hardly ever did because I was always hot) I take hot baths every night now....then snuggle under a big comforter.....I also never wore coats...now I am digging for gloves, coats, scarfs..... I really like this November post board. It is great to know many are going through the same things I am.... I hope every keeps posting!!
