Can any of you handle anything spicy yet? Hubby brought me home a couple things of egg drop soup (wich was on my dr's list) but he also brought me home some of my hot and sour soup~ my favorite! I put it in and choped up all the veggies and meet and was able to eat it. My stomach was a bit shocked, but I didn't get sick or anything. I was wondering what else some of you can tolerate?? Or any other secrets you've found out! Jacquie 402/366/180

Hey, Jacquie, I don't know if it's a great idea, but I've had hot and sour soup twice in the past week or so. I went down GREAT, and it has a good amount of protein too! I have put some cajun spices on my cottage cheese before, and it didn't irritate me either. I am not allowed to have salsa or anything with tomato for 6 months, as my doctor is concerned that the acidity will cause an ulcer. So, I probably ought to watch the spices too, but hey... it's hard enough finding anything that tastes good as it is! I can't live without flavor!!! You are sure doing great! Congratulations... I agree! It's so hard finding something that I can have that tastes good! What I'm loving now is I can have a mix of flavors. I don't know what I would do with mayo right now! lol My Dr. Didn't mention anything about tomatoes all though it wasn't specifically on my "yes" list. Does that mean not even tomato soup?? I hope that if that's the case come 6 months I can eat tomatoes over the summer!!

I'm with you on the mayo thing! I just bought some reduced fat mayo last night... helps the tuna go down! As for the tomato soup, nope... I can't have that either. I don't care too much about that (6 months isn't that long), but not having salsa is a bummer.

Teresa, Hot & Sour is Chinese soup. Most Chinese Rest sell it by the 16oz container real cheap. I am excited since I have been wanting variety and never thought of the hot & Sour soup! I can't wait to buy some tomorrow. It has chunky veggies in it with a fabulous flavor. I wonder if Istrained it if it could be considered a liquid.

for an extra week. My tummy grumbled and made some noise, but I loved the flavor and it rejuvinated me. I did strain the soup though, but I am finding that I can tolerate just about everything and I am worried that I am not going to dump. I have even had no problems with eggs, which I heard for many is trouble. I am just waiting another week or so till I can move on to solids! Roni 240/201/140

I LOVE making egg beaters with low fat cheese, ham, and salsa!!!!! My surgeon never said no, said we could season as tolerated but to stay away from cayenne pepper and tabasco sauce. I get the real mild salsa. I have also had tomoatoe soup w/o a prob. My surgeon has me on tagamet (an antacid) once a day for the first month to help ward off ulcers. I would say if you are unsure, ask your doc. They give us ideas of things that are okay and then definite no nos to avoid.
