Well, I am exactly 3 weeks post op today. I am doing pretty well, though am fighting off a bladder infection. I do have to admitt I was a little bummed today when i weighed in. I weigh once a week and am only down 2.5lbs since last week. Total loss though is 23.5lbs, which I am happy with. Anyone else notice a very small weight loss for week 3? Is this a plateau? What should I do to increase weight loss? My period is coming next week, so that may be part of the problem too. Not taking in too many liquids since my pouch is very sensitive since coming down with this infection. Anyway, just wanted to make sure I am on track!! Erica 258/234.5/125

Are you eating at least 3 meals a day? How much protein are you getting in?

Interestingly enough, not taking in enough may be what is slowing your weigh loss. I found that when I was only taking clear liquids my weight loss was minimal. There seem to be three keys to weight loss --- water, protein, walking.....see if you increase all these things what happens?? B

Erica, I didn't lose anything week 3 & 4. Then I dropped 6 lbs overnight. My doc says just a little water retention can do it since water weighs more than fat. You are losing just not showing it. It is very common to lose right after you period! Friends who are 1 yr out said every month their biggest drop comes the week after their period.. After all we are woman w/ HORROR-mones I was freaking out with the 2 week plateau then bingo the next week the scaling starting moving....Down! Don't worry! Summer 240/213/140

Same thing happened to me. Lost 21 lbs the first two weeks then only one lbs the third week. Then 6.5 week four. Heard from someone in my support group the average is 5lb a week for the first six months but it also depends on how much you have to lose.

I am getting in everything I should or close to it. I am supposed to get in 70 grams of protein and 60 oz of water each day. I get that most days. I am going to just consider this week a week for my body to "catch up" with the loss. I feel good and that is what matters most, right? I am going to try uping my exercise too, but I have to take that day to day!! It seems I can do a half hour on the treadmill for a couple days and then I am really pushing it to make it to fifteen minutes for a few days. Thanks so much all of you *****plied. It is so nice that we are all going through this together Erica

I just hit my three week post-op anniversary yesterday. I had been on a plateau for a solid week. I was beginning to get depressed until I decided to take it easy and relax. The end of the third week came and the scale started moving again. I just kept up the walking as much as I felt comfortable with - I've been averaging about 2-2.5 miles per day that takes me about an hour to walk lately. Have no fear - the scale will continue to move, just be patient (I say this to myself too). I'm glad there's a November of 2004 surgery group here. Just found my group! Yay! Dawn 380/348/150

I was dissapointed with my weigh in this week too. I weighed yesterday and in the past 10 days I only lost 6 pounds. I knew things would slow down but I had hoped it wouldn't be THIS quick! But I still just try to focus on the big picture and just be happy that things are going in the right direction!! Jacquie 402/366/180

Erica, That is great!!! I am 2 weeks out and have only lost 14lbs! I keep telling myself to eat more, and to move more. I think 14 lbs in 2 weeks isn't that bad. I have never done that before! Keep up the good work, I hope you feel better soon!!! E-Dee
