Hi Kendal,
Call and ask your surgeon; that is a question that no one should really give advice or predictions on. Any new pain should be investigated (and at least reported to the surgeon). After all you are healing, and shouldn't be having new pains. I had a pain on my right last night that happened everytime I breathed in; it radiated up to beneath the clavicle and up my neck. I am a nurse and knew it could be something simple, or it could be something serious. I had hubby take me to ER, and they put me in the trauma unit (it was embarrassing since I know several of the ER staff, and felt the guilt of possible overreaction). They did a spiral CT, chest xray, EKG and labs to rule out free air in the abdominal cavity, and a blood clot (they discontinued my blood thinners after just one dose since I had bleeding problems after surgery...so I am at an increased risk for a clot now). All the tests came back normal, but the important thing to realize is that they acted fast and took it very serious for a reason. Any one of us who just had this surgery who has a new pain needs to get it checked. New pains are not normal.
The ER doc sat with me and lectured me how I shouldn't feel I overreacted. He told me, "You did the right thing; I thought you really could have had a big problem going on; so if I was convinced, you needed to be hear." Then he told me he believes I may be having some gall bladder function issues. In the last year I had 2 ultrasounds of the gall bladder because I have had the symptoms of gall stones sporadically.
They now want me to do the HIDA scan (a nuclear study that checks the actual function of it), since I don't have stones or sludge in the bile duct. And if I still have the pain on Monday I will get it checked. The problem I have always had before is that the pain goes away before I can get one scheduled. If this is gall bladder pain (similar to attacks I had previousely), this is the longest I have ever had it. It's here now even.
My point is that you should field this type of question to a doctor. No one can know what is going on in your tummy without testing. I would call the surgeon to see what he or she thinks.
Good luc****ep us informed!
Hugs,
Lori
thanks alot for that lori..your right i do need to call my doctor.. the pain is gone this morning. thank goodness.. i hate to said grose but i ueed the bathroom did number to for the first real time and now i feel much better.. maybe i was having gas i dont no but this is all new.. to me..thanks again.. have a good one
Kendal,
I am really glad to hear that it went away. It is amazing how painful gas can be at times. My first week I was real gassy and had explosive diarrhea. Now I am having almost normal bowel movements (I thought that was strange...I was expecting lifelong diarrhea!). Not having a lot of gas pains now, but a lot of gas still. I hear that is pretty normal too to be gassy. My doc said I can take Mylanta for gas if needed. You may want to check w/ your doc and see if you can too.
I don't know about you, but I was so relieved to know it was nothing serious. Thanks for teh update! Hugs to you!

I had the same thing!! Problem was I had stretched (OH!! Do NOT try that post op!! LOL) Well, I ended up with a pulled muscle!! My surgeon suggested I sit in a hot tub or hot bath, which I was more than happy to do considering I hadn't been able to since before the surgery, and the next day after the hot tub, it was 75% better and by the following day, I was almost all the way better!! I could even sleep on my stomach!!
I still find (surgery 11/10) that certain ways I bend, hurt in that same spot that you said, but my surgeon told me this is very normal!! So glad you are feeling better!!!!
Kendal let me tell you I had that pain on monday night I thought I was dying I called my doctor after my silly butt had taken 3 percocets in an 5 hour period forgetting I didn't have that system I had before. He told me that I was ok it was normal and just relax but I stay up due to the pain meds and when I did go to sleep boy I woke up soaken wet from sweat and was dizzy I will not be doing that again actually I haven't even taken no more pain meds untill tonight.
