Hello everyone in e-,ail land. I have been post op now for 4 weeks on 12/5/04 and have lost 22 pounds to date. I have not had any problems right after surgery but have had a couple of issues since leaving the hspital. I had a bad experience with sliced cheese and shrimp. Both were very painfull and the shrimp earned me a trip to the emergency room and a bout with vominting, which was an awful thing. Has anyone else found foods that do not agree with them? Lynnelle

Lynnelle I have not but I have a friend who had surgery the same day and she got sick on shrimp. She said it was her fault because she ate too fast and didn't chew well enough. She got sick waited a few minutes then tried again making really sure she went slow and chewed really well. She didn't have a problem the second time around. My doctor's office told me to wait at least one month post op before trying shrimp, lobster or scallops because the meat is very firm and hard for us handle in the beginning. I hope I can handle shrimp 'cause I really do like it! Good luck - Debbie

Tuna salad! Dear God! It holds any little air pocket I have in my gut and makes me feel miserable.

REHEATED POULTRY!! OMG!! The day after Thanksgiving, I reheated some turkey for my pureeds stage and ohhhhh was I sick. This is a pretty common problem, so thought I would let you know. Will NEVER eat reheated turkey again and will never even try to reheat chicken...in case! Erica

Erica I thought it was only me that had that problem with reheated turkey. Now I know. I'm even afraid of poultry period now. So far I've only regurgitated, not dumped. That's probably tmi but what the heck. xoxo Alice

Lynelle, I'm 4 weeks post op as well. I've lost 27 lbs and my problem food is eggs!! I loved eggs B4 surgery but now it sits in my throat...and I after. I can quesily eat part of a fried egg. I can eat 2 medium shrimp sauted and cut into tiny pieces. I ate them very slowly and it's was yummy. I ate shrimp during week 3. Why did you have to go to ER for shrimp what did the ER doc say? I hope you are doing well now!! Congrats on your weight loss!!!! Summer

Thanks everyone for the responses to my issue. I have tried shrimp again and I have been fine, Thank Goodness!! I do have bouts of nausea after eating but its managable. Heavy foods seems to make me uncomfortable and I prefer soft foods to food that needs to be chewed and chewed. I have lost 38 pounds so far and can really tell the difference. Continued good luck to everyone in this journey! Lynnelle
