2 Weeks Post Op
I would like to give everyone a two-week update since my surgery:
I had a laparoscopic RNY on 11/16. I was going to go home the next day (since I was doing so well), but I had an allergic reaction to the CAT-Scan dye, and my white blood count was up, so I stayed a couple of more days.
I was able to eat soup (or any soft foods) almost immediately. I am very happy with what I have been able to eat. As long as I eat real slow, and don't over-do it, I have been fine. I have been very satisfied with very small amounts of food. I have felt hungry a few times, and am confused by this. But I stick to three meals per day with no snacking.
On Thanksgiving, I had two small bites of turkey, which I chewed real well, and I had SEVERE cramping, sweats and the works for a few of hours.
Also, the other day I ate some soup. Because I ate a little faster than I should have, I ate a little too much and felt real uncomfortable for a couple of hours. I wanted to vomit, but couldn't.
Last night I had pasta (rigatoni) for dinner. I had 13 or 15 pieces, and I felt real full and satisfied after, with no complications.
I still have the drain tube coming out of my abdomen, which is uncomfortable, but tolerable. That comes out next week. I haven't had any diarrhea or other complications. I do tend to get a little tired at the end of the day, though.
I have lost 22 lbs since the surgery, and I returned to work this week (full-time).
I couldn't be happier with how smooth my procedure has been. I really think a lot of it has to do with the Physician. Dr. Graber has been awesome.
