Well - looks like we're all pretty much at the same place - Had my surgery on the 10th - Hurt so bad when I came out of anesthesia - then they kept giving me Morphine or something till I finally didn't care & this helped - couldn't eat more than a swallow or two of broth for the first three days - couldn't take the liquid vicodin - made me toss. Went home on day three - someone suggested children chewable tylenol - tossed those - hurt to sit, hurt to stand hurt to lay down - so I walked as much as I could - to the end of the driveway & back 2-3 times & 2-3 times a day - on day 6, I got bronchitis - probably was just fluid build up in my lungs from the Morphine - at about this point I wondered what the hell I had done & really had to talk myself through - ate only chicken broth & sugar free Dryers popsicles (these were my saving grace) plus chamomile tea... then about day 8 I turned a corner - felt like eating & began blending brothy soups up like beef barley in the blender so that I would have some flavor... went to a movie saturday & now I've started pureed food - which for me consists of hummus (yum - especially roasted garlic) & cream of wheat, blended cottage cheese, mashed potato soup, liverwurst and applesauce (not all together of course). Tried a couple of protein drinks - not liking them - but then I never liked aspartame or sachrin - was able to make the unflavored taste really good by adding some mango juice - this may be the way to go... having a bit of a time figuring out HOW much to eat - but I am eating slowly & absolutely savoring every single sip, & swallow. Tried the flinstone vitamins - they made me toss - so I've ordered some recommeded OmniSource chewables but they haven't arrived yet. Found a WONDERFUL calcium - Rhino children's chewables (on-line they have adult chews though) chocolate is VERY palatable - you have to chew them till they disolve so I didn't get sick on them or anything - they have been a real treat & they come in fruit flavor as well.... What else - already feeling loose in my pants - but of course - like everyone I would've liked to have just woke up skinny - Here's an odd thing - I could NEVER watch the food channel before always made me hungry but during my days on the couch I found it VERY satisfying & it helped me to consider new cooking options & better ways to eat - when i can eat - overall I feel really good - a little tired - need to get my vitamins & protein going better..... I am hoping that all is well with each of you & would love to hear your own experience... Pam. 304 lbs -
