Came back home - bruised!
Lena-
I had lap RNY and around some of the incisions I have awful bruises. Plus where they gave me the shots of heparin in my belly! FUn FUn!!!! Right now I am dealing with itching!!! The incisions itch, I cannot wait until Tuesday to get the staples OUT!!!!!
As for hunger, it is considered head hunger but it's not all in your head, it's real. I went to the mall today with my hubby and kids. We went to the food court for lunch. BIG MISTAKE!!! Seeing all those people eating yumy food really started to get to me!! I had NOTHING to eat, just sipped on water. I did check out Subway for some soup but they were all out! I do know that it will get better.
I have had horrible gas pains and when I eat it's like I can feel the gas coming back up and moving around in there. It's painful at times. I do know when to stop eating though! Have not had anything come back but have come close.
Good luck to everyone!!! What an amazing journey we are on!!!!!!

Hey Lena---I am glad that you are home from surgery. Mine was on 11/11 and yes, my belly is badly bruised also. As well as my arm when I finally convinced one nurse not to give me any more Heparin shots in my belly. I had lap procedure and have no drains. I have been sleeping on my side for about the last 5 night now. But I do use a pillow in front of me just in case hubby gets too close my mistake. We'll just have to hang in there and work on our food issues now. But I can say that I am full on these liquids but am looking forward to starting on a soft diet. Good luck and feel free to keep in touch. God Bless!
I also came home with a bruise. The bloating will go away. Get up moving as much as you can and you will notice a difference. I slept with a little soft pillow on my side. After a couple days it gets easier. I am still having head hunger and when I get really hungry, I go get a sf popsicle, it curbs it all together. I have had no problems drinking or I have had no nausea. The days will go quick and soon you will be able to eat pureed foods, and they will seem good for a few days : )
Good LUck

Hey everybody! Thanks so much for all your replies. I did not expect it will be such a hot topic!!!
My bruise is turning yellow already and the stomach is not as bloated as it was. I was able to sleep on the side for the last couple of nights using extra pillow. I had a post-op appointment with Dr. Crum yesterday and he is happy with my progresss. I lost 12 lb in a week, and am now 228 lb. He said I will be 150 lb in 6 months if I behave, so I'd better forget about head hunger.
Thanks again for your share of good advice and good luck to everybody!
