Real food as in crunchy? Or just thick ones? You can try oat-meal, malt-o-meal, cream of wheat, stuff like that! I cant think of anything crunchy right now that would be ok for you to eat but ill think of somthing and then post! Oh wait! Are you alloud to have fat-free granola? Because you can have yogart, and then throw some granola in there! ~Amy post-op DS 11-5-04/-25 pounds

Thank you for your response. I dont know if I can have granola or not. I am no having hunger pains like I would before if I did not eat. I guess it is I want to eat the same food as before for taste not to eat it just to taste it . Does that make sense?Thank you again for your response. Ann

I had surgery on the same day as you. I was craving some texture in my mouth more than anything - not really hungry, just want to eat. I hit the spot today (sort of) with Atkins yogurt with banana mashed up but still chunky. I sipped my first post op coffee along with it. I only ate about 1/3 cup and had 4 sips of coffee but for some reason it was just the best thing I've had in a long time. My Dr calls these weeks the 'modified liquid stage'. We are allowed mashed potatoes, cream of wheat, oatmeal or grits, creamy soups (I had cream of chicken and melted some cheese in it), cottage or ricotta cheese, quite a few things. Follow your doctors orders of course, but do try a few different things as it might satisfy your need to eat. I'm not really hungry much at all but still crave like I used to.

Thank you for your response. I have eaten cream of chicken, potato soup (homemade and creamy not lumpy like canned soup) also had the soupy part of chicken and dumplings(which was the best I have ever had) I did not think of cottage cheese though, I could have a little applesause with it. hmm that sounds good. I guess I know what my next meal will be. Thank you for your ideas. Ann

I had surgery on the 8th, and my postop appt was on the 18th. I was told to do soft proteins like cottage cheese, refried beans, soft cooked eggs, anything soft and mushy. Then slowly proceed to meats like tuna or chicken very well chewed. I ate some thin sliced turkey with some cheese in it and heated it in the microwave. It was wonderful. Chewed it to death.

I know exactly how you are feeling. I had my surgery on 11/8 and I too crave something with a crunch. I have been moved to soft foods but still find myself wanting something "normal". I tried scrambled eggs and it just stuck there and it felt like my chest was going to explode it hurt so bad. This was on my list! So back to yogart I went and then I tried a piece of chicken. Weird! That went down no problem. I just don't get it. Very moody pouch I have. I just look for the day when I can eat a salad. I yearn for crunch. Patti

I had just discovered Zaxby's salads right before surgery and they are wonderful and huge. I keep wanting one. Yesterday I had a little chicken breast and put a half teaspoon of carbwell's dressing on the plate and it was delisious. Everything I eat now is delicious. LOL

I ha just discovered Zaxby's salad as well right before surgery. I even dreamed that I was eating one LOL. Oh well we will be able to have one soon. I have eaten some stuff as well. My nutrionist had said that I could start eating pureed food this week so I have been trying different foods this week so far so good. Keep up the good work and thank you for your response.

Hi Ann I am doing the same thing. I have had no nausea or pain either. I have been eating mashed potatoes w/ gravy, tonight I had carrots and cheesy potatoes, I tried ribs, but they didnt go so well. I still have this crazy head hunger, but I am not hungry. I sometimes feel like I am over eating. I dont really feel that full feeling that I hear people talk about. Jackie
