Post-Op and feeling great
This is my first message to the message board. But for any of you about to have the gastric-bypass I wanted to share some positive news. I had my surgery on 11/8/04 and am feeling wonderful!
The first couple of days were not much fun, but after about 5 days I was feeling much better. Once I had my drain removed, I felt like a new woman!!
I lost 10 pounds the first week. The main thing I have trouble with is the protein. I just don't like any of the drink supplements. But if that is the worst thing, then that is perfectly fine with me!
Good luck to any and all about to begin the journey, I couldn't be happier. No nausea, vomiting or dumping! Woo hoo!
Hi Christine,
I am waiting for the last of my testing and then will make a surgery date with my Dr. They are saying it will be after the first of the year. I was hoping sooner but at least I am on the right track. Well I was wondering if your having trouble with the protein what are you drinking? Well good luck in the comming months. Keep up the good work. MaryAnn T.
Hi MaryAnn,
It does get frustrating playing the waiting game, but the time will be here before you know it!!! Plus, at least you can still ejoy the holidays! Thanksgiving was okay with the mashed potatoes...
As for the protein, I am forcing myself to drink the Isopure (which alot of people actually enjoy) and some of the other drinks. I recommend testing some before your surgery to see if there is anything you find better than something else. But don't stock up on anything, because your taste buds can change!
If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact me. I would love to answer any questions you might have.
I am down 20+ lbs. now and feeling okay. I am a little weak, but that could be from the lack of protein. But definitely worth it!!
Take care MaryAnn!!
