Help! Cold Season

I am having surgery next week and woke up with a cough/cold. WIll this postpone my surgery? How do I manage in an office for of sick-o's?

Call your primary care Dr. and get a Z-pac antibiotic - these are 5 days only instead of a 10 day script. Also get some Vit - C and do double dosage. prayers and hugs,

Yep I agree. I got one and was told by a nurse where they did my scope NO surgery with a cough of any kind. I got a Z-pak and started it yesterday. Get the z-pak.

Never underestimate the power of prayer! I was in your place 17 days before surgery and it lasted total of 9 days. It ended up being viral, but I did get a zpak anyway (just in case...not worth the risk!). Also ask your family doctor to order you a Incentive Spirometer (the little respiratory gadget you get when you are in the hospital). My surgeon gave us one pre-op and requires we use it everyday for 2 weeks before surgery, so I used mine and it really helped loosen up the secretions. Also try OTC guifenisen (sp?) and drink a lot of water it will loosen the secretions. Whatever you do, do not even think about keeping your illness from the surgeon on day of surgery just to avoid rescheduling the surgery. It is not worth risking your life for that!
