Hospitals are all different. Where I was, they provided gowns that were large enough, but they didn't have large-size robes. I wish for that reason that I had taken my own robe, for walking the halls. I took loose-fitting jami shorts, which I put on under the gown my second morning. I also took a big loose-fitting sleep t-shirt, but I couldn't put it on until after they took the IV out, late the second day. The second night I slept in the shorts and t-shirt. Legs were plenty warm, as I had elastic stockings and compression leggings -- part of the hospital bed accoutrement! You may want to check with your surgeon's office, or ask another of your Dr's patients. If the hospital isn't far from where you live, you may want to go visit the floor you'll be on ahead of time, and get a better idea/feel for how things will be for you. Wear the same thing to go there that you will wear to go home, and don't bother about a bra. (I'm 12 days out, and just was able to wear my bra for the first time now. Reason is that 2 of my small lap incisions are right up under where the bra band hits.) Wear slacks or sweats that are loose-fitting, and comfy; make sure you also take slippers, to wear on your hall walks. Suggestions from my experience, -- Good luck! Susan

I talked to a couple of people including rosella and she said to wear comfy clothes...it might be cold so you might wanna consider sweat pants and sweatshirt....I know I will bring that and some loose pj's...I am scheduled with Dr. A as well...for Nov.25th two days after yourself...let me know how you are doing...I will arrive in Eseneda a day after your surgery and will be staying 8 days so I can have the doctor take my stitches out as well....you will be in my prayers dear...god bless... --S.

My surgeon suggested loose fitting clothes... elastic waste bands. Something that will not bother you. I am scheduled for surgery on the 29th. I am bring my big nightgowns and sweatpants and sweatshirts. He also suggested you bring your own pillow to support your stomach, some nice smelling lotion, lip balm and (if this applies) tampons or pads because many women start their period after the surgery.l Jennifer

I wore sweats to the hospital since I had to be there so early it was cold. Coming home I wore a long dress, but sweats would have been good too. I also took my own "t-shirt" type of gown, there's were choaking me. Donna

Hi! I had surgery on the 10th. I wore a warmup and turtleneck to and from the hospital. I think it really depends on whether you have lap or open. Good luck!!! Keep positive thoughts. xoxo Alice

I wore my jammie shorts and shirt to the hospital for surgery and a pair of loose pants for the trip home. They are my friends...LOL. During the stay I brought comfie shirts and jammies...after the IV was out I changed into them and didn't wear the hospital gown. Felt more like myself when I could wear my own clothes. Sharon
