It is 3 days post op (literally almost to the hour) and I have significant pain in one spot. Upper left quadron is killing me!!!! It feels tight, sore, pulling and getting up from lying down and sitting is horrible. SPoke with Dr. B. at discharge was told that the spot I am having problems with is the largest of all of the incision spots and it is also the only spot that has an internal stitch. He says I am doing fine and "as expected" but his associate said if it doesnt get better we need to watch it to see if the internal stitch is too tight and needs to be surgically loosened. I need any and all feed back, reassurance and just basic experience facts. Thanks

Hi Mindy! What you are experiencing is perfectly normal. I am 11 months post op, so I can fill you in on what to expect. The pain will get better soon, but you will most likely feel a little somthing there for a few weeks. I did anyhow, although it was more painful the first week. My surgeon went through the muscle in my lower left abdomen, so I had more pain there then anywhere else. Do you have a recliner? If you do, try sleeping in it, rather then lying down. It's so much easier to get in and out of, and more comfortable too for a fresh post-op. That itching is your nerves "fixing" themselves. It will go away soon. For those of you going into surgery, you might consider renting a recliner if you don't own one. Mine was a God send for me. My hubby moved it into our bedroom so he could be there if I needed him for anything, and I slept in it for almost 2 weeks. Good Luck!

Mindy, I recommend you go to the Sept or Oct message board and ask them. They just went through this and will have a lot of fresh post-op advice.
