Hi Sandy, I also had my surgery this week...on Tuesday. I am feeling pretty good, so far. I just feel so full-what a strange feeling. I am grateful that I wake up every day feeling better and better. I can't wait for Tuesday to get my staples and drain taken out! Woo-Hoo! Good luck to you and I hope everything continues to go well for you! Ellen

Sandy, Hello and congrats! I have a question and maybe others have the same question. Can yuo describe to us how it feels different to you post-op to eat and drink. I know that we have to eat and drink much slower than before, but what is that different feeling that makes you know that you need to slow down (other than the doctors telling you of course). I just can't imagine "sipping" more than 60 ounces a day. I am just curious what being physically different feels like, and curious to hear how you describe it. Thanks! Lori

Lori I can tell you that Was the kind of person that really could eat anything and everything and now with the drinking water dr. g would like me to in take 64oz of fluid but I know i cant seem to figure out how to do that. I have tried a few different drinks and that helps cuase i doesnt have to be all water like i finished a 4 oz cup of broth yesturday and that is part of my 64 total ozs. I think right now it is more my mind telling me to stop then it is my stomach i think that i know what can happen if have to much and my mind starts telling me before my stomach does which for me is soo different because before either mind or stomach ever told me to i was full or to stop, drinking and eating slower right now for me is a state of mind and not a feeling if i have seen i finished have of jelly meaning 1/4 with in 20 mins i know it was too fast i keep time. That is really helping me. GOod luck each day getting better i know it had for me.

One big swallow can give you chest pain!! That's the truth...I am 14 days post op and I can only drink 2-3 small sips at a time or it hurts. Even when I am drastically thirsty....only small sips. It sucks, but you will get used to it. I am used to drinking lots and lots of water, and now I can't do it. I didn't realize this until after surgery! Best of luck!
