Calling all Nov 22 pre-ops
Hello ladies (and guys if you are out there)!
I am wondering if any of you have had teh unfortunate situation of getting a cold? I am fighting mine with lots of fluids and even broke down and got on an antibiotic, lots of sleep and it is not budging. It's been a whole week that I have had it with terrible sore throat (same as last week), productive cough (improving), and a slight sinus headache. I am soworried that it will postpone surgery, and I have already scheduled off 10 days unpaid from work (can't afford to do that twice!). Just wondering about you all and how you are doing. I am getting the jitters a littel now that I can tell people it is just a week and a half away.

I took my last zithromax on the day before my surgery, and I did all right...I had a slight atelectasis problem that nearly cost me another day in the hospital, but I think that's because I just could not do my coughing and deep breathing exercises like I needed to because of the pain. I spent 24 hours on oxygen and many aerosol treatments and pulmonary exercises and got through it ok. I'm still having lots of pain, but i don't hesitate to take that medicine. I've decided I'm not nearly as tough as I thought I was,and I don't like being in pain. Besides, studies show you heal faster if your pain is under control, so I intend to keep it under control! Sounds like you are doing all the right things, have you tried a decongestant to help w/ secretions? My daughter went to DR w/ cold symptoms today and she told her to get some claritin and take Tyenol. I hope all goes well and you get to have your surgery on time...best of luck, sherry
Beth,
I came down with mine 17 days before surgery date and still can't quite shake it now and I am 9 days away. I hope yours goes away faster than mine. It is better than it was 3 days ago, so that is a great sign, I just want it to go away fast so I feel confident that I will still go into surgery as planned.
Good luck!
One minute I feel as if I'm fighting a cold, next I feel fine. My sinus's are in an uproar, allergies too!
Nerves and just the fear of getting sick because LIKE EVERYONE is sniffling. This is like the only part of what's going on I am nervous at all about,
GETTING SICK at this point!
I work in a community center
But my vacation started as of today, I'm not pushin my luck being by (especially the kids) sickies.
I also got a Z-pac on standby for just in case. I always do this time of year because of my asthma and sleep apnea anyways. I'm not allowed to get really sick, so says my Pulminologist.
Did not get a flu shot this year yet, hasn't been quite 1 year, got a pneumonia shot though.
Doubled my Vitamin C and praying like he$$
God Bless y'all
Hi,
My surgery is the 22nd. I have had to postpone once already because my white blood count was up. They thought I had and infection or something.
It turned out not to be though. It's because I take prednisone for asthma.
So this time it's going and I couldn't be more excited.
Good luck to all of us 22ers.

Well I am happy to see a good size group of us going to surgery in less than a week....WOW doesn't that seem unreal? My family has no clue how nerve-racking this is as it gets closer, so I am glad I can count on this group. I am such a procrastinator that I still have to get my robe, pack for surgery etc. I am just too anxious to get that nesting syndrome. I hope I am a better housekeeper when I lose teh weight. I just never feel like doing anything, always tired.
