I went to my dietary class Friday morning, and then to pre-admission at the hospital later. All of the pre-op testing is done!! Yaay!! This last week I found out I have sleep apnea from a sleep study done Monday night. I just had my CPAP machine delivered today and the tech went over all of the particulars in using it. The CPAP machine used in the study helped me alot, so I'm looking forward to using it. Hopefully, I won't be needing that or the tons of meds I've been taking for so long after I shed all of the pounds! I just want to thank all of the nice people out there on this great website for all of their encouragement and nice thoughts. I'm sorry I missed the convention, but I am not sorry I didn't catch whatever virus was spread around there according to the previous posts.. I'll keep everyone posted as to my progress.. Thanks again to everybody! Mark

I had my surgery (lap rny) Tuesday morning. I was diagnosed with sleep apnea over 5 years ago, and I've been on c-pap since then. They had instructed me to bring my c-pap with me to the hospital, and they put me on it as soon as I was out of recovery and in the hospital room. My oxygen saturation was low, so they added the oxygen port to the c-pap. A couple weeks ago I had a conversation with my sleep dr, and asked for any generalities about how long after the rny, or with about how much weight loss, patients can generally get off of c-pap. That's too much of an individual thing, so she couldn't say. But I'm hoping that after a few months, or perhaps 1/4 to 1/3 of my excess weight gone forever, I may cure the apnea. Just some thoughts for your consideration in looking forward. And you'll be in my prayers for an uneventful and successful surgical outcome on Monday. Susan
