Hi everybody! I wondered if any of you had already done tedious task of label reading and bought your post-op foods. I am planning to spend a couple hours at the grocery next week doing just that. I was at Target today and they had 'no sugar added' apple sauce which I bought since it was on sale. The funny part was that I came home with 3 6packs (individual serving snack packs), and I realized duh! I am not going to be able to eat all that for a long time at only 1-2 oz per meal! It was sort of funny, and I just realized how much this will change the way I shop! Lori

Amanda, your requirements mirror my own. I will be doing the same thing, according to the instructions I received yesterday after a consultation. Another slight coincidence is our anniversary is next Friday, the 12th, the day I will be having my pre-op testing. I have to buy some sort of "junk" called Phosphasoda and mix with water to drink on Monday the 15th, and as I was told, stay close to the toilet! Yuk! If that is the same junk I had to drink before I had a colonoscopy a couple years ago...it is HORRIBLE! I am also strenuously trying to stick to liquids. After visiting the doctor yesterday, I found I had not lost the weight he required me to lose prior to surgery. In fact, I had gained almost half a pound. He tells me that I have to lose 10 before the 16th or the surgery will be postponed. I don't know if I can do it or not..but I am going to starve myself and see.

i would imagine that the phoshasoda and liquids in the days prior to surgery will help somewhat with that 10lbs!

I did a bit of pre-op shopping today. My doctor wants me on liquids 1-2 weeks before surgery. I thought 10 days was a good medium. So I bought some of the liquid low card protein shakes. Not all of them. I thought I'd try them and see which taste okay. Getting close - only 16 more days! I'm having the lap band and very excited, and can hardly wait to be on the "other side". I am getting a bit nervous, but I'd like to brag a bit about my younger sister. She had her RNY surgery not quite 6 months ago and she's lost 85 lbs!!!!!!!! I'm so proud of her! Cat
