Hi everyone, I'm scheduled for surgery on Nov. 15th and just found out that my gall blatter needs to be removed. Has anyone had in open RYN and Gall Bladder removal at the same time? Also was your recovery more difficult after having both procedures done at the same time??? Please advise.. Mary Rose

Hi Mary Rose: I am scheduled for 11/11 to have both procedures done also. I have been told that you will never know that both procedures were done---in fact it is a great idea! When you lose a large amount of weight quickly, it usually produces gall stones for those of us that still have our gall bladders. This will result in you having to have surgery again when this happens. By removing the gall bladder now, this future surgery will be eliminated. I know several people who had to go back into surgery in as little as 3-6 months to get the gall bladder removed and this is much more risky and painful that having it done at the same time. So, look at the gall bladder being gone at the same time as a blessing in disguise and don't worry about it at all! Good luck to you and I'll see you on the other side and we'll talk then!

I had my gallbladder removed a couple of years ago and the main pain I had was the incision, so I can't imagine there being any additional discomfort, you already have to deal with the incision, right. Hope this was some help. Jessica
