How many of you were told...
Hi Donna,
Your date is the day after mine! I will be praying for you and wishing you well. I was told early on that my surgeon would possibly postpone the surgery if I didn't lose at least 15 to 20 pounds before the surgery. I understand he asks all patienst to do this because, since the stomach lies behind the liver, it makes it less difficult to access that area when the liver is softened or shrunk a bit. I was told that it is easier on the doctor and patient, too, in the aftermath...not so much pain and discomfort.
My only regret is not being able to "pig out" before then..and enjoy the things I will have to be giving up for life. But, ...oh well.
well I was not given an amount to lose just try to lose some and eat better, walk and drink water. I lost 20 lbs this summer. Blood pressure went down and I am ready for NOV !*TH!!! I was told also about the liver and how much better it is. I also stopped soda 4 weeks ago and have only drank water. Past post ops says that is a biggie because we can not have sodas after surgery so that is one less craving and headache to have post op!!!
Best wishes...
Brenda
