Hey Maria we share the same date!!! My surgeon wants us to lose some weight before surgery so I'm working on that. As far as the nerves go...I have several comorbidities and the way I see it is it's a chance to improve my quality of life so I'm going for it. In life there is a risk to everything. I'm hoping for the best and really that is all we can do. If you have a strong faith you might ask your church, family & friends to pray that your surgery will go well and that you will have a speedy recovery. Good luck - Debbie

Hi Maria and Debbie! Mine is the day after you guys. I am with you, Maria, as far as the nerves. In fact, I am a bundle of emotions and mixed feelings. I seem to want to be petrified one minute and happy, excited the next, and it is driving me bananas feeling this way! So, just know that I share your feelings, for sure. Debbie, I have the same requirement. I was told Monday as soon as I learned I had been approved that I needed to start that very day on a low fat, low carb, high protein diet to lose weight before the 11/16 date. I understand this is to soften the liver so that the surgeon has easier access to the stomach which lies behind it, thus not causing so much pain and discomfort after surgery for the patient. But there goes my plans to "pig out," one last time! LOL! You are absolutely right about trying to improve our qualities of life! I am 63, and really concerned about my age factor causing complications. But, then on the other hand, I know for a fact that if I keep going the way I am going, that I will not have many more years here, anyway. So, this is sort of a last ditch effort. I will be praying for the both of you and for anyone that is about to undergo this procedure, as well. God bless you! Pat

I find that journaling gives me a lot of peace. I have two blogs plus my profile here.. each one is kind of for a different thing.. so I have a place (and a sympathetic audience) for anything I feel like talking about.. or if I just feel like goofing off. I recommend it.. there are lots of free blogs out there (livejournal, diaryland, xanga) and you don't even have to tell anyone about it if you don't want to.. it can be just for you! Good luck to you! I go in a few days before you but I'll say a prayer for you on your day!! Congratulations! Stef
