November 22 - Something to give thanks for.
I'm scheduled for surgery on Nov 22 - the Monday before Thanksgiving. The few people who do know about my sugery wonder why I would schedule it the week of the biggest eating holiday in the US. Granted the date worked out for both the surgeon and me, but I think that's WHY I scheduled it then. Seems like a great thing to give thanks for. At least I'll still be able to watch the Macy's day parade - my true Thanksgiving tradition. Someday I'd like to see it in person.
I'm having the lap-band, it was a hard decision to make on the type of surgery, but my time with Dr. Agos convinced me the lap band was the right choice for me. I'm very excited.
Anyone else out there a Thanksgiving patient? Love to hear from you.

My DH is scheduled for 11/16...and of course I won Bears tickets for 11/21...so I am taking my son to his first professional football game w/o his dad...
We're still trying to decide what to do about Thanksgiving. Fortunately, it's usually just the four of us anyway, so it only affects us...but food is a BIG part of what we do that day. It's the one of only 2 days I cook. So I'm trying to figure out if we can have it before, and just munch on other stuff while we play board games on T-Day, or what...
Anyway, good luck and congratulations.
Congrats! I'm scheduled for Nov. 19th the Friday before Thanksgiving. It will be a blessing to myself and my family to have a happier, healthier me. I figured why wait and eat all the holiday food when I can just do it! This date is also significant to me because it is the day I lost my grandfather 2 years ago. I know he will be looking down on me. : )
Thanks for all your kind replies. I'm fairly new to this site but I have already found great hope and strength among the posts I've read. It took me long time to get to the decision to have surgery. But now that I'm there and only weeks away, I'm looking forward to future and can hardly wait. Congratulations to you all too!
