WEll, ONe month from today I will be on the loosing side!!! It' hardly seems possible. I have a question for you guys, How many of you are having a hard time letting go of food right now? I feel like I am sorta loosing my best friend. I keep telling myself, it's just FOOD!!!!!!!!!!! But, I have lost 20 pounds on my own so far, so I know I am capable of succeeding w/ WLS. It's just all coming down to the wire now. I have a strong faith though. My grandma died 2 days ago, so I am finding it hard to concentrate right now. She was a wonderful woman and I will miss her so much. Well I guess I am just rambling, just felt the need to share my thoughts w/ those that understand all the feelings that go along w/ having WLS.. thanks for listening!! Hi Melissa, So sorry for your loss. My mother (83) passed away this summer and it was pretty sad for me, but I know she is up there rooting for me. She never had a severe weight problem like me, but struggled at times. Just know that your grandma is up there looking out for you. I've lost 33 lbs so far (since May) and I know what you mean about having a hard time letting go of food and what it means. I keep thinking of things I want to have "one last time" then my more logical thinking takes over and I realize that kind of thinking was what got me into this mess. I substitute those thoughts with visions of what I will be doing by next summer that I haven't been able to do in years. Hope this idea helps. BTW, I lived in Madison, WI for 8 years and met my husband there. Loved the trips up to Door County! Even had a roommate from Racine but can't remember her name (this happens alot these days!) Good luck and I'll say a prayer for you on Nov. 4th. Nancy

Melissa, I'm sorry that you're grandma passed. Losses are never easy on our eating, are they. Of course, neither are happy times for me! I'm not prejudice against ANY time when it comes to eating. LOL!!! As for the food thoughts, eating, etc. Yup, totally understand! I definitely am having (a bit) of whatever I want, saying good-bye, but, I'm also adding in healthy foods like orange juice, veggies, fruits, etc. trying to build my system up during these next 6 weeks. (Just got my date today, 11/18/04.) I've been screwing around with lowcarbing for so long (and about any other diet you can name) that I'm sure I have deprived my body of wonderful, healthy grains, fruits and veggies. Maybe if you have a "good-bye food" you could also eat a new healthy food that day. We'll get through this!! Hugs to you.
