I had a total abdominoplasty which was totally covered by my insurance. They also covered an upper blepharoplasty at the same time. I slept in my recliner for about two to three weeks. I was off an additional 5 days because I had a minor complication [the drains didn't want to work and she wanted to make sure the stuff wasn't going to explode oiut]. I was pissed off because I felt great and was ready to go to work. You will have to walk bent over for the first four or five days, depending on your surgeon. For me, that was the worse part. I freakin HATED that. I was not in pain like I expected to be, though. Good luck and God bless!

I had a mini tuck. I went back to work in two weeks and had no problems. You will have to refrain from standing straight up for a couple weeks and sitting actually feels better then laying down for a while. I actually slept on my couch for some time afterwards. I did not need a lift chair or anything else. I can tell you that it was quite painful for a couple days after my surgery. I actually had an easier time getting into my bed because it is really high. If your couch is not comfortable I might suggest buying one of those pillows made for sitting up in bed. You may feel better sleeping while sitting up.

I have lost 104 pounds (down from 121). I am scheduled for a abdominoplasty and lower body lift on February 9th. A couple of days ago I found out I had a hernia. Just a small one under my incision but hopefully this will get some of the costs covered as BlueCross has denied my twice as cosmetic even though I have submitted letters from 4 doctors stating it is medically necessary and not cosmetic. I haven't had any problems in the last 2 years other than I found out I can eat anything even sweets and sugars. The only thing I have some problems with is white bread. I would like to hear from those who have had a abdomonoplasty to know what to expect. A coworker told me it would be a good idea to rent a lift chair for a month afterwards. Our bed is high and our sofa is not comfortable do I could use that until I heal a little. Can you expect to be up to doing some walking right away? Doctor says I should be off work for 2 weeks and then 1 month with little or no lifting. Thanks in advance for any help.

Congratulations on your surgery! How are you doing now? Are you starting to feel better from surgery? Are you happy with your initial results? Priscilla

Topic: RE: 2 year surgiversary
Hey to all my fellow 2003'ers. My 2 year was Nov 17 and I feel great. I lost 100 pounds and still losing(not as much as the begining). I'm right under 200 and my goal is 180. I CAN DO IT!!!! We all can do it. Stay positive and take whatever road you feel is necessary to get you to that goal. POSITIVE that is. Would I do it all again if I had to YEAH BABY!!!! Was the best thing that could happen to me in regards to me losing weight. I can sleep at night, I can walk and walk with out huffing and puffing, I can ride all the rides at the theme park, I can play with my boys for long periods of time without getting so over exerted, and I can dance and dance through an entire song man two or three songs now. In some cases pounds as to clothes size plays a difference. The day of surgery I was wearing a size womans 26 I am now wearing womans 16. WHEW......I am very proportionate so I don't wear the same at top as I do the bottom. I wear 14 tops and 16 bottoms in most cases. Life is a whole lot better. No more sever knee/back pains. I feel so good about myself. No longer self conscience. Keep your heads up and pray for each one of your endeavors on this journey. God Bless.

I also have that same problem. When I mention I need to lose some weight people always say I must want to ******exia. I went from a size 20 to size 8-10. I guess I lost the weight so fast that when I look in the mirror I still see a fat person. They always say that your mind will catch up with you later. I am 2yrs. post-op as of 11-18 and still see myself as fat. I am now doing so exercises on the ball to tone my stomach area then maybe later I can save up and get a tuck. Also the other day I had gained about 15lbs. because I had been eating alot of sugars and carbs. as of today I have started to watch the sugars and carbs so that by Christmas I will be back down to about 150.
