You're doing fantastic - 39 pounds works out to be .6 pounds per day since your surgery - so a little more than a half a pound a day is pretty super! It's bothersome because it happens in chunks, you lose a large amount right away and then your body tries desperately to normalize itself - but don't worry - it'll break again soon, because you're taking in less food than you ever did before, and even less of that food is being absorbed by your body because of the removal of the upper part of your intestines. Your body won't be able to last for very long at that weight. Like that other person *****plied to your post, i'm not a doctor, I just have to believe in the science of the procedure - because I'm going through the same thing you're going through. WE WILL BE THIN! take care!

My surgery was 11/24/03 I am down a total to include WL before surgery 46 lb. My problem is this. My DR insisted I eat ONLY lean meat and green leafy vegetables. and take 2 flintstone vitamins daily.. He said I will not be successful If I don't do as he says. He says I need to lose 5 lb a week. I am really board with my few choices of foods. I drink coffee in the morning, plus a 4 oz protein drink mixed w/skim milk. Then for lunch I do another protein drink, about 5 bites of chicken 1/2 oz with 1/2oz of broccoli. Dinner is the same as lunch. Boring." Hunger is waking me up at night because I don't eat meat after 8pm. I awoke this morning at 2:20 hungry. So I went to the kitchen and fixed me a bowl of warm oatmeal. Yummy Yummy that was great" I am 53 and my concern is calcium my hormones/mood swings, my hair, my nails, and my crappie low energy level. I know this regime will not last for me. Please share what you are eating? Thanks for being there Deborah

Hi, You are not alone!! I bring 2 bags of clothes every month to my support group and i still can't get past thinking i am fat!! my surgery was 11/14/03 and i went from a size 26-28 to a size 18-20 so far and even though i can shop on the other side of the store i still peruse the racks on "MY" side of the store. i guess at least with me i was heavy for the last 15 years and that's the mindset. my support group says that it can take up to a couple of years to get your mind to catch up with the body. but you know what?? we are getting smaller and we are going to continue getting smaller and the mind will just have to accept that!!!! so don't feel sad, or lonely if you need to talk email me anytime!! your not alone!! we are all in this together!! talk with you soon Stacy

I hate that when I get stuck some place for weeks but I have found that if I stick to protien and extra water for about three days it breaks the plateau for me any way.. Good Luck and you are doing great.. Tricia Marty -49 lbs forever

Hi! I am still learning how to navigate this web site and I just discovered this reunion page!! I had my surgery on 11/17/03 and I am down 45 lbs. I have to admit that I am still working on getting in my exercise, but as far as my food goes, I think I'm doing pretty well. I agree that we all lose at different rates. I'm sure the exercise is a big key! Thanks for sharing and keep up the good work!!
