Topic: RE: Did he not do enough??
Eileen, You are doing great. I had surgery 11/17 and I am down 62 lbs. At my 3 month checkup my doc said I am doing great. The average for 3 months is 40 - 60 lbs. I hit the top number and so have you. Be happy, you are not doomed. My doc says from here on it slows down a bit but you just have to get in your protein and exercise.... He says they are the two keys to successful weight loss. I bought the Lateral Thigh Trainer and I love it. I just started using that yesterday. It is hard but it is cool and it works on the right places for me..........the butt, the thighs and hips and the tummy. Good luck, You really are doing great, don't worry. My goal is to have 100 lbs gone by 6 months and I am confident that I will make it.
Topic: Did he not do enough??
Hey ladies, I am concerned. I have gotten two emails from other people who have had my surgeon...and they have done horrible! One person never made it past 60 lbs and she had her surgery about 14 months ago. Also, a friend of mine who had her surgery with him on September 9th, is only down 78 lbs (Now granted, she is happy for all of her loss and I am happy for mine too)....Anyway, the one girl called the surgeons office and found out he makes the pouch about 45 cc instead of 30 cc and that he takes less of the small intestines. He's very conservative. Which probably explains why I can (only tried a couple of times) tolerate sugar, and why I have been able to eat way more since the beginning. I had Open Rny on 11/4, and I am down 61 lbs. Granted I look a hell of a lot better then before...but could I possibly be down closer to 75 lbs? I admit only the past few week have I been really exercising..and I know I am not getting all my protien in...but I don't want to fail....Yes, the weight loss is much quicker then if I had been on a diet...but still....am I doomed? Oh...totally stressing here. Plus we are now in California...so I couldn't even see my surgeon if I wanted to. I guess I am freaking a bit...any words of wisom??? Any thoughts? If not...thanks for letting me vent here a bit.

Topic: RE: 11/20/03 - 3 MONTHS POST OP - 02/20/04
Well I am 3 months out today! I will definately say, this has been a heck of a journey so far.
I started @ 258 and am down to 203...
Eating : Uggg... it seems to be a chore anymore, I have a hard time finding things that are good for me or that I like anymore.
Cravings : Normally if I want something, I will attempt it... but all in moderation!!
Complications: I seem to have a very weak immune system... I have been more sick in the last 3 months than in the last 3 years, In fact just last night I was throwing up till 4 am..... what a joy... and I tend to be pretty low on energy still....
Exercise: I do not have a set plan but I am constantly on the run... I know, I know...that doesn't count.
Medicine: I take Roxicet as needed and fight to get my vitamins in
Water: I just try to drink as much as I can, but have not measured my intake..I'm sure I could use more tho.
Protein: No more shakes - trying to get it from my food
Other than that, I still look forward to the day when I can say I'm back at my best... I had about 2 1/2 weeks of feeling good, only to start feeling bad again.... Oh yeh, and I am noticing more hair in the drain now too!
Well good luck to all and congrats to our 3 mo anniversaries!!
Jess

Topic: RE: sugar!!
I have to agree with the others. I do not have a problem with sugar. It was the sugar-free things that made me ill. Just remember that wls is a tool not a punishment.I just do not eat thing with surgar in them every day like i did in the past. Just listen to your body it will let you know.
Topic: RE: OT: Longaberger Baskets
Carolyn,
I was really just curious as to how popular they are in other areas. In this area it is HUGE becasue of Fort Leavenworth. I recently became a consultant so I just wanted to know what people out side of here thought of it. I love the pottery also. I got hooked on the baskets but once I tried the pottery I fell in love. I'm piece by piece getting the whole collection. I don't like to use anything else anymore!
Thanks
Angie
Topic: RE: potassium supplements??
3.5 - 5 is normal. Maybe they're worried because you've dropped in a month. I haven't had this problem but have heard of post ops having trouble with this.
Get your bananas out!
Take care, Kristen

Topic: Feeling Good Moment!!
Hi,
I just had to share a feeling good moment i had yesterday with you all. i had gone over to my husband's brother's house to watch a movie and they see me all the time so it was no big deal. but a friend of ours was also over and he hadn't seen me since he came to visit me when i first came home from the hospital (you know in your extra roomy jogging suit so nothing touches your stomach, which is killing you at the time!!)
anyhoo, he saw me and came across the room put his arms around me and said "stace, you are looking good!!" i felt so happy!! i just looked at my husband and he was smiling for me. and just said " thank you" but i wanted to jump for joy!! it has been so long since someone other than my spouse has told me i looked good!! I am so happy i had this surgery!!!
sorry to ramble!!
Thanks for listening!!
Stacy

Heather...you go girl! Doesn't it feel great?? I tried on a short sleave knot top that I would always wear to work the other day. It was huge!! I saved it cuz I thought it was a shirt that I could wear big for a while. It's beyond big! I almost cried!
Anyway, you are doing fantasti****ep it up~
