Topic: RE: So hungry for fruit and Veggies
my doc says I can have veggies well cooked and fruits except citrus at 3 months out. I do have a few cherry tomatoes at lunch with olive oil and a splash of basamaic vinegar. not sure if I'm craving the tartness of the vinegar or the tomatoes; but they taste great.

Hi there! someone emailed me and reminded me to post the name of the hair supplements - Thanks!! :0)
They are made by a company called Vitol. I searched the web and found an online store that carries them - if you can't follow the link they are called "great hair" and have 3000 mcgs of biotin. they work GREAT! I Saw a difference immediately. - 2-3 days.

Topic: RE: almost 4 months out and FINALLY down 50lbs(m)
I totally empathize. I , too, am losing very slowly -- 46 lbs. since my RNY on 11/11/2003, and I've had two long plateaus. I wish I understood why some like myself lose so much slower than others, especially when I'm following the rules. I read something today that said to break a plateau to double water intake from 64 oz. to 128 oz., push up exercise a notch, and eliminate ALL refined carbs (i.e. ONLY eat protein and starch-free veggies -- 70% protein, 30% veggies). I'm going to try this but I also find I tire easily. I'm taking the sublingual B12 and I'm exercising 5-6 days (a 1.5 - 2 mile walk 3x week and lifting weights 2-3x week). I figure eventually something's got to give.
Hope you're feeling better soon.
Best,
Kathy

Congratulations!!!! Heather, good for you, I too have just hit my 50 pound mark today too, yippee!
I had my surgery on 11/10/04 and am a slow loser too. I have been obsessing about losing slow but I feel so much better and know it will come off in time. Everyone loses differently and everyone has good advice as to what will help speed things up. So I take what I can for advice and leave the rest and I try not to obsess so much. Good luck on getting under 200 by the end of the month, I have another 60 to go before I get under 200, but I continue to keep a positive attitude and try to follow doctors orders and the nutritionists as closely as possible.

I too had my surgery on November 4th 2003.
I am also a very very slow loser. I have lost a total of 53 pounds, very close to what you have lost. I plateau a lot & usually for 3 weeks or so before I will start losing again.
I have been getting the B-12 shots & they do help with energy, but they also make a pill you can swallow & one that disolves under your tounge if you are interested in trying those.
Hope you energy returns soon!

its a little discouraging, but i had my micro-surgery on 11/4 and and FINALLY down 50lbs.
I am really tired most of the time, so i am trying to get into the dox early and perhaps get a b-12 shot or something. I cant stand being so tired.
anyways, i am HOPING to be under 200 by the end of next month, but at this rate i HIGHLY doubt it.
ughhhhhhh
Topic: RE: Did he not do enough??
I totally know what you mean. I realize I have a long way to go, but I know I have caught the stares of a few guys here and there....and I love it! Now I am a very happily married women, and I would never do anything to jeopardize it...but the attention is good. I can't imagine what the attention will be like come this summer! WOO HOOO! I walk with my head up at the world now....not at my feet! Oh,and I landed a great job yesterday....I think if I were at the weight I was at...I don't think I would have gotten it...really!

Kristen,
My hair is short. I have gotten shorter over the years. Like I said, it's a "trendy" type of cut, so it looks cute (not that I can say anything else about me looks cute...although, I am getting there
So, it might help. You may not even had to go that short...but something that has a little bit of layers to your hair will give you some volume...and that's key. My hair has been thin to begin with (don't have the gray of my moms side of the family, but the fine hair of my dads)..
Besides, whats so bad about a new cut for a new you!! You can always start growing it out come this summer....I actually find my hair is easier to do when it's short compared to when it's longer...I just am not able to whip it into a ponytail or anything.
Hang in there...I know what you are going through...and I don't like it anymore then you!

I started taking the biotin hair supplements that my nutritionist recommended - and I see a big difference. (I will post the complete name once I get back home.) I can't take the vitamin E because they give me BAD headaches. You have to watch your E IU intake for that reason. I also have been adding the whey protien to EVERYTHING - this also has helped with not only the weight loss but the hair loss also.
A short / layered hair cut will ABSOLUTELY help - #1 because the hair shaft itself weighs less when it's short and you'll lose less hair from the 'gravity pull' - and #2 because the layers will help the hair appear much fuller.
We only have a short time more to worry about this anyway - it will grow back soon. Keep up the GREAT work - you're doing so well.
