I think we all see ourselves still FAT. It takes a while. I have had to take so many clothes back to the store because i tend to buy them too big. I cannot believe i am in 4-6-8 depending on how they are made. I went to the resale store yesterday and they are having a half price sale for summer and i went wild. For $30.00 i bought two bags full of nice size 4-6. I tried everything on and made sure it fit. Have fun buying clothes and enjoy this small stage we are in. I am happy to be this size. People tell me i am too small. Oh well, better than too FAT. Have a good day. Deb

Topic: Driving and Snacking
Hi all; was wondering if any of you have experienced (what I will call) 'road trip boardem snacking'? Had to take a child to college and the 8+ hour drive; got board and found myself wanting to snack on something. I ate cashews; graham crackers and lots of water. so that isn't so bad; but.. when your not hungry we should not eat. Right. Well, I think it was just because I was bored with sitting in the drivers' seat and wanted something to do. anyhooo.. if any of you have ideas of how to handle this it would be appreciated. I'll be making the drive a few more times and would hate to gain weight because I ate.. thanks. mark g.

I too feel as you do! I see the skin hanging off my arms, thighs, and stomach in the mirror- not everyone else sees the "worst" of me so I believe I am my own worse critic. AND a big part of it is psycological. If I say "I'm fat" then I won't be as inclined to eat like a "thin person" and hence keep the weight off that way. It's just another way to fight the battle of regaining. My husband thinks I am nuts too because I say I'm fat and eat only salads, drink water, etc. BUT I will do and say whatever I can to help fight the pounds. A tummy tuck would be heaven scent- but then I'm sure I'd find something else to complain about! Thanks for posting! Celeste 303/155

Hi everyone!! I am have a problome and wondering if its just me or am i going crazy??? My hubby thinks i am needing to see a shrink! I look in the merror and see a not as fat woman but i see where i am not skinny and he thinks its all in my head. Why dont I see what others do???? I have so many people tell me how great i look and yes i know i look a lot better but I still see a too fat person. I know a lot of its skin but i just dont see what others do??? I look at a lot of others who have had this surg and they look so great. My neice is still a size 16 and I am 8-10 but she looks smaller to me than me??? I guess its cuz I see me without clothes and we are our best critics. I dont want to sound like a nut or ungratful for the weight have lost I am just confused. I have always been large framed and know that has some to do wth it. I guess if I could only get my insurance to cover a tummy tuck i would feel better about me. I have been told that your brain hasent cought up with your body yet???? Tell me does any one eles feel this way? love and peace Deb

Hi Valerie You still have the tool.!!! You have lost a lot of weight and I am sure that by upping your protien and lowering your carbs, that you can reach your goal. Maybe you can do what I did. I got a very physically demanding job, and now I have trouble keeping the weight on. I feel like I hardly have time to eat at work, and you should see how nice my arms look!!! I am getting BUFF!!!!! ((((((HUGS)))))) Dawn

and I'm right there with you all. I have gained 5 to 8 lbs back. The scale keeps floating. I hate it. I find myself snacking especially at night. I eat; I feel full; but not satisfied. Then I find myself in the kitchen looking for something satisfing. A friend is planning to have surgery next month. She is stuggling with a lot of the pre-surgery questions. I find that talking to her helps me. Talking about the eating do's and don'ts; drinking water; (or crystal lite); helps remind me that as mentioned above this is just a tool. Diet and exercise are critical to success. Coming to this site is also a help. Trouble is we all seem to be busy with our new lives and we don't post very often. Old habits die hard; but we all did this to get healthy. Look at where we are now compared to a couple of years ago. Are we more healthy? Are we in better shape? We can do it. We can all pull together and help one another; and change our eating habits. Hang in there. We can maintain. We all want to stay healthy. all the best. mark g.

First, we are all unique individuals and we simply must not judge our successes on the basis of others' successes. Heck, it depressed me that my surgery buddy turned into a veritable twig and we had our surgery the same day, while here I am still rounder than I had hoped to be. You need to make yourself eat properly. It is important not to make yourself feel deprived, however, limit your splurges and make them tiny. You will be amazed how you can cure a craving for sweets just by reading the calorie count on the labels! A little bit goes a long way. If I feel I cannot live without a cookie, I go to the bulk bin and buy ONE cookie, or a couple of tiny candies. I try to NEVER buy whole bags of anything because that is just too damned tempting. You will be just fine. the excess skin, unfortunately, will not disappear without surgery, but by getting exercise and tightening up the muscles, you are doing the right thing to prepare for it. My insurance doesn't cover tummy tucks either UNLESS THE DOCTOR CAN SHOW MEDICAL NECESSITY. Do not feel defeated so soon. My advice is to start saving for it now. Many surgeons will take payment plans. In the meantime, your plastic surgeon will know what to put in a letter to show medical necessity, but ask your wls surgeon who he recommends. If you develop rashes under the skin, have them photographed. This will help, and if you get prescriptions for ointments for the rashes, keep records. Good luck to you~
