My abdominoplasty was approved out of MEDICAL NECESSITY. The rashes that occur under the skin, the backaches, stuff like that. Document them - complain about them to your pcp so that its in your medical records. If you get the rashes, photograph them. It all helps. And also? I had my eyes snipped at the same time. Upper eyelids will get approved if you can fail the visual fields test. They will NOT approve the boobs, however. No way that is ever anything other than cosmetic, unless they are TOO big and need to be reduced. Good luck and don't give up. Talk to the PS about the medical necessity issue and have him submit for it. You may be pleasantly surprised.

Topic: RE: shakes
Hi Deborah, I do get the shakes occasionally. I eat peanut butter and crackers and it usually work really well to stop the shakes. My blood sugar drops too low when this happens. Maybe you should monitor yours. I was a diabetic before my surgery and I will always be one but now I don't have to take any meds for it. I don't know why my blood sugar drops when it does but I know how it feels and I am usually prepared when it happens. I didn't want to get into the habit of eating too much sugar either and my Dr. says it is healthier to bring you blood sugar up slowly with peanut butter and crackers and OJ than to ru**** up fast with candy. Good Luck.

Haven't been on in a long while, still about 30lbs from goal, feel good. Went for a plastic surgery consult and he said my abdominal muscles were good just needed to take fat and skin and a little lipo also a boob lift and implant to reshape,, only if I had $12,000!! how do all these others get their tummy tucks and such covered by insurance??? I could live with my boobs if I could just get rid of the stomach, He said he would probabaly remove about 20lbs. Having hunger issues too just pulled out the protein powder again and taking some appetite control over the counter.

I call mine Tube Socks With Nipples! Right now I am wearing the body briefers to hold in all the loose skin and the bras aren't great in them so I have purchased some falsies when I want to look good in a form fitting blouse. My grandson thinks they are tits from a dead person. Ha. They work for me.

Topic: RE: Weight gain ARGH
Hi Mar****ep gaining and losing the same 3 pounds but I keep a close watch on the scales and know that it will be easier to take off 3 pounds than 30. Just keep a close eye on that 6 pounds . Get you some protein shakes and be sure to get your 64 grams of protein each day plus your 64 oz. of water. Sometimes that's hard for me to do. Good Luck checking into plastic surgery. I am waiting for approval right now. Wish me luck!

Hello Shawn, Congratulations on your weight loss. It is a big accomplishment. When I find myself hunting something to eat and never being completely satisified with what I find I realize that I haven't had enough protein. If I get my 64 grams of protein in during the day I notice that I am better satisfied. At our support group meetings Rona Scott always said to get your protein first at each meal then your veggies and fruit and if there was any room left you could eat a little carbs. If I try to follow that rule I usually am full before I get to the carbs. This might be an idea you might like to try. I also drink a lot of Crystal light. The classic sunrise is so good to me. Have you tried it?

I also am going thur exactly what you described. I am now down to a size 0 and sometimes even a girl size 12 but I feel so fat! I see the hanging skin on my arms, tummy and thighs and I just hate it. I am on the waiting list for a tummy tuck next year. My husband says I don't need to lose anymore. My mom and dad said I am too small. I am in between a small and medium frame. I eat what I am supposed to but try not to eat an extras. Sometimes I have just as much trouble trying to find clothes that fit me as I did when I wore a size 22. But I feel better and I think I look much better without the extra weight. I also wear alot of cute clothes now and I enjoy it. I feel better about myself and I am a college student and my grades have been straight A's and I have so much energy now too.

Topic: RE: Driving and Snacking
Hey Mark, I know what you mean. I get that "windshield gaze" after a few hours on the road. I need to do something with my hands to keep my focus on the road. If I know I'm going to be on the road for hours at a time, I try to plan ahead. I pack a cooler with healthy snacks and a couple of protien drinks. My favorites are apples and string cheese sticks. I know if I don't do this, I'm always stopping and convenience stores and trying to find something to snack on. I also make the meal I eat before I leave a small one. That way, if I do get the urge to snack, it's not as hard on the diet. I learned this from my mom, who is a diabetic. She always has her "goodie bag" with trail mix and yogurt. Also, stop periodically along the way to get out and stretch your legs for a few minutes. Gets the blood and brain circulating again. Good luck and happy driving. Shelley 8-D
