Hi there, I am almost 18 months out and for a while now (like almost 6 months now) I get the shakes if I don't eat every 3-4 hours. I feel like I am ALWAYS eating. I have lost 170+ pounds and am below what my personal goal and my Doctors goal was for me. (I am 5'9" @ 135 lbs) I am wondering if its possible I may have become diabetic even though I never was one before surgery. How do they test someone that as had GB? Since in order to test you have to drink that sugar drink thing? Maybe I should just call my doctor and get seen. My labs have always come back great. Is anybody else having this problem? Thanks! Kim

Hi Kim What kind of things are you eating? I find that if I eat simple sugars such as crackers or bread, that I get the shakes two or three hours after I eat. I almost feel like the floor just dropped out from under me. I also have noticed that they do not keep me full as long. Try eating a balanced meal three thime a day with a veggie, a meat and a carb item. This will help you maintain your weight so that you will not lose anymore. Snacks are also good, but try a piece of cheese or some apple. If you start losing again, maybe you should add a high calorie shake to make up for the calories you are not getting in, and do not forget those vitamins. I still keep track of the calories I get in every day, just so that if I start losing again, I will know how many extra calories I need to get to maintain my weight. I started out at 225 and 5 feet tall. My goal was 125 pounds. I now weigh 104 pounds, but am well within my normal BMI. ((((((HUGS)))))) Dawn

Hi; yes, I get the shakes also. I eat balanced meals; and also wonder what my blood sugar is at. My doctor tests through blood test for it during every visit; and it has been normal. (of course on the doctor days' I'm feeling fine). I started at 306 and now weigh 170. (I'm 5'9) . I believe our bodies are going through ALOT of adjustment with the GB Surgery; so the shakes thing maybe just a normal outcome. I'm going to bring it up at my next visit in a couple of weeks and see what he says. I'll post his anwer for all. mark g.

Hi, I am about 18 months out as well and I have lost about 130 pounds. My weight loss is at a still and I mean a stand still. However I think it is because I eat 24 hours a day! I am always hungry too. I alos feel very shakey and all most faint after eating a lot of the time. I feel all most flushed. I am wondering if I have low blood sugar as well. I know this response is not helpful but I just wanted you to know that your NOT alone in this. I am going to begin asking around to see whats going on because this happens to me even when I eat a complete balanced meal. What ever I find out I will write you back. The best of luck to you and may God Bless YOU. KIM in NC
