Hi all - just wondering if anyone has had the same experience with their cycles being messed up. I'm about 14 months post op and have lost 125 pounds or so, I've passed my goal and am doing great. I'm taking my iron and all supplements and cannot figure out why I haven't gotten my period for so long. I spotted for alittle bit last month and then it went away. I continue to to take Pregnancy tests to be sure, but they keep coming up negative. Does anyone else have this trouble? thanks!

I have had this problem. I will try to explain it like my GYN did. She said that excess estrogen is stored in our fat cells. So, when we lose a lot of weight, then that extra estrogen is released into our body. Therefore, interferring with our periods. Be lucky in not having one. Mine was just the opposite. I had them more frequent and longer! Kristy

I an a OB/GYN Nurse Practitioner and you really need to go see your GYN provider. It could be just that your estrogen levels are changed after the weight loss but it could be your thyroid. It could be that your uterine lining is building up and not being shed. It could even be a pituitary tumor! Go get it checked out! You should have blood work and a pelvic ultrasound done as well as a physical exam.

NOt getting it at all sounds like a treat about 7 months post op i was getting it every 2 weeks for 3 months. That was horrible but my dr also told me it was the whole estrogen thing.

Hi I went to my GYN and was told it was an Estrogen thing and not to worry, I am also going to have blood work done and he did a yearly PAP. Hope you get some answers. Darlene
