Hello all, I am 1 year (11/24/03 surgery date) and was wondering how many oz. our pouch is at this time. I went for my 1year follow up with surgeon last night, and was very discouraged. I fell off track approx. 4-5 months ago, went into depression, and just didnt care what I ate or drank. I started at 435 and am down to 308. I have only lost 43% of the excess weight, and surgeon says normally we are supposed to lose 70-80% by 18-24 months. I dont see that happening for me right now. I am back on track now, taking wellbutrin, back to working out, protein shakes and trying to watch what I am eating, and lots of water, water, water! ! ! ! Any helpful hints anyone?????????? Cara

You obviously know what to do and now you are doing it. Don't get loss in the depression of messing up. You are on the right track now and just keep trying to stay there. If you slip now and then, remember that you are human! You've lost 127 pounds in one year! That's nothing to sneer about! I've found that the last couple of months have been the hardest. Not only does the weight loss slow to next to nothing but you find yourself able to tolerate more foods and able to eat larger quantities. Do your best to try to keep up the water and exercise. You can do it!!

I find that when I need to get back on track, I "reset" myself. Go back to my diet as a fresh post op. I go back to just clear liquids for 3-4 days, then slowly advance from there, just as if I were just starting out. I not sure which it helps more, my mindset or my body, but it seems to work.

Hi Cara! I would have answered sooner but have been in crash city at home with my computer. Don't kick yourself [easy to say - I do it all the time]. When I need to start over, I go back to cream of wheat for 24 hours and then start all over again. It sounds like you are doing all the right things at this point. You go girl - you will get where you need to go with perseverance, and I have faith in you because you really want to do it.
