Hey guys, have any of you consulted with a plastic surgeon yet? If so, what are your projected costs? I have lost 114lbs and have another 30 or so to go before I reach my goal. I'm thinking about having my consultation now so I can get an idea of how much it's all going to cost. The odds of my insurance covering any of it is slim. I thought at one point i my be able to get my breasts covered. Before surgery they were quite large...now...nothing but skin. Everything on my body is sagging..but, i'll take a little sag over weighing 300 lbs again! Thanks, Charity

Hi Charity.... Congradulations on your fantastic weight loss I have spoken to my doctor regarding a tummy tuck...and he submitted paper work to the insurance for approval since I am having major rashes....and documented everything....I'm still waiting to hear from them for over 6 weeks now OH well I have a feeling it won't be approved......and regarding my breasts...I have NONE...I started at as a 36C and now I'm barley a 34A....and thats too big Good luck on your journey

I got my approval from my insurance for the tummy tuck, but they denied the breast lift. I'm still having it done though. I work for the hospital where the surgery is being done, so they said they will work with me on payment arrangements. I won't have to pay anything for the tummy as the hospital will waive the co-pay as I am an employee, otherwise it would cost me $250. The breast lift will be about $5000. Pray for an abdominal hernia. If you have one, insurance usually covers it. I'll be having it all done the day before Thanksgiving. Two Thanksgivings in a row fresh out of the hospital...lol. Good luck! Shelley

Charity, I am having a hysterectomy and tummy tuck on 11/3. Since I needed the hysterectomy the hospital and all aspects of that surgery are covered by insurance. The Plastic surgeon is charging me $6000 for his services and I need to pay $750 to the hospital for the additional anthestia time. If I wasn't having the hysterectomy, it would have cost about $10,000.

I am having an extended tummy tuck with muscle repair & a breast lift with implants on November 15th. I am going to Costa Rica to have my surgeries. Nothing was covered by insurance here. The cost for all surgery in Costa Rica, including 1 night at the hospital is $5400.00. The same surgeries here were going to cost me about $1600.00! I am taking a friend with me, we fly there on November 10th, 2 days away! I hope everyone is doing well with reaching their goals! priscilla in minnesota now a size 4!

Laurie, I am happy to give you info about the surgery in Costa Rica! Sorry I did not respond sooner, I was away from a computer for a few days. The surgery I had was an extended tummy tuck with muscle repair and a breast lift with augmentation(implants). My total cost was $5400.00 with Dr. Macaya in Costa Rica. There is a great message board on MSN that is exclusivly about plastic surgery abroad, here is a link: http://groups.msn.com/cosmeticsurgeryabroad Please take a moment to join, there is a wealth of information on the Costa Rica tab & the General tab. I would never have done the surgery without this website. As surgeons in Costa Rica are not allowed to post pictures or email pictures of past surgery patients, this website has pictures from the different doctors. Mine are not posted as of yet, but I will get to it sooner or later! SO far I am very happy with my results. I know that I am very swollen still. I am wearing a compression garmet to aid with the swelling. I am able to wear my size 4 jeans already. I don't know if I will go down a size in clothes or not. I went to Costa Rica with a friend, she helped take care of me after surgery, we stayed at a ced and breakfast called the Hemingway Inn. Another option is to stay at a recovery retreat, they run about $75/day and include all of your meals. Please feel free to email me with more questions if you have them. Priscilla
