I am planning on having plastic surgery this November. Although I am going to Costa Rica to have mine done. I am going to have a tummy tuck with muscle repair & a breast lift with possible implants (not sure yet). I am taking a friend down with me & she is going to help nurse me back to health. The prices are so much better there & the standards for the surgeons are very high! Priscilla

Hi Priscilla, I have been doing research for the same procedures you mentioned but in Brazil. If you have them would you mind sharing the cost's you have been quoted? Length of stay required and surgeon (websight address if they have one)? I have looked into the Rosenberg-Lieberman (sp?) Clinic in Costa Rica but after paying for a plane flight and stay the cost was going to be pretty close to what I would pay here at home which is about $15,000. Where Brazil is looking like $8,000. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks, Melissa 314/157

Melissa I am having my surgery done by Dr. Macaya in Costa Rica. He is highly regarded in the plastic surgery circles. He does plastics for the wife of the Costa Rica president. My quoted price for the extended tummy tuck with muscle repair, Breast lift with implants is $5400.00. I am flying my friend down there with me. She is paying for half of the hotel costs & my total including food & some fun money is about $7000 - $7500.00. You can find out more information on the plastic surgeons in Costa Rica at this site. http://www.arrivacostarica.com/ In the beginning I was looking at the R/L clinic, but I beleive Dr. Macaya is a better surgeon. R/L clinic does tend to be a bit higher than some of the other surgeons in Costa Rica. Feel free to email me if you want to! Priscilla plastics on November 10th 2004

I went to Montreal for my consult for a tummy tuck.I have the procedure scheduled for next month. The cost is $4200.The Dr said that because there is a scar already from my last surgery he would go over that and remove a few inches of skin on either side as well as down lower. The incision would be like an upside down T.He showed several pics of other patients who had this done and it was amazing. Good Luck ! Colleen

Hi Mark, I want everything done! Breast lift and implants, tummy tuck, bat wings removed, inner thighs and lipo on my butt. I don't know how in the world I will pay for it all, but I'm determined to have it done! I think I can get my insurance to pay for tt, inner thighs and maybe even my breast lift, we'll see. I want a tummy tuck and breast lift done. I can live with the bat wings and saddlebags: I'll just wear short sleeves rather than sleeveless tops and walking shorts rather than short shorts--at my age I'm more comfortable in those anyway. It is virtually impossible to get insurance to pay, it is hard to prove "medical necessity" for anything but the tummy tuck and it only sometimes. The skin has to hang down low enough to impede your ability to walk or you have to have a history of skin rashes documented. Sometimes you can get a breast lift covered if you also have a reduction but then you have to have a certain amount of tissue removed and may not have much left--a woman on another board had it done that way and is very unhappy with it. I will have my procedures done locally but as an outpatient, which will cut costs considerably. I have 15 more pounds to lose and then I want to stabilize for three months or so before I start shopping for a plastics surgeon. 317/170

I'm a little late with this post, but I just found this site today. I am scheduled for plastic surgery Nov 24th...yes, the day before Thanksgiving. I am fortunate that my insurance will cover cost of having my "birthday suit" altered. Mainly because I also have an abdominal hernia. My employer didn't even want me working until I had it done. For some reason, they don't like their paramedics having abdominal hernias. Another benifit is that I work for the hospital where I will be having the surgery. I found my surgeon, I guess you could say "by accident". My daughter fractured her wrist and needed surgery. He is the one that did hers. He is considered one of the top plastic surgeons in the country. Here is a link: http://www.midwestplasticsurgery.net/ruebeck.html. I am also having the breast lift done at the same time. Still waiting to hear if insurance will cover any part of that. Good luck to all.
