My surgery was 11/04/03 Highest weight 280lbs size 26-28 Goal weight set by surgeon 150 my weight at 5 mo in April was 216 my weight now at 10 mo is 210 size 16 only 70lb loss in the last 5 mo I've only lost 6 lbs and this plateau has lasted about 2 mo. Has it stopped? did I stretch my pouch? Whats going on? I'm still exercising and I can't eat more then about a cup of food at a time although I can eat just about anything now and it doesn't bother me at all. I had hoped for a 100lb loss by 6 mo like most of you and to reach my goal by 1 year. I have 60lbs more to loose what should I do? I've been considering diet pills again. I only drink water, crystal light, and protein drinks about 80oz a day I eat alot of fruit, beef jerky, veggies, salad, chicken, pork, steak, hotdogs, can't eat hamburger too well or pasta. Bread goes down alittle easier than beore but I'm not that hungry for it. I probably get about 60 grams of protein a day.

Hi, I am at goal and have been for a month or so. please do not get discouraged. we all lose differently. just as it was when we gained the weight in the first place. i only eat about 4 1/2 oz. at each meal. and i work out 4 times a week at curves. i don't always get in my liquid but i do get my protein in every day. i even have a protein snack in the afternoon to make sure. i also never eat sugar, that was a pandora's box i couldn't open up. alot of my friends do, but i just can't go there ever again. i find though that if i really need something i can have a sugar free something and they are good enough now you can't tell the difference. when i used to plateau i would up the protein and exercise and it usually worked. also, are you measuring yourself because usually when you are not losing weight you are losing inches. so Measure yourself!! hope all this helps and think happy thoughts you have done so well to get to this point!! Keep up the great work!! Stacy 262.5-132.0 11/14/2003

Thanks for the reply, I have tried to up the protein I was taking in about 110grams a day at one point, but it didn't seem to make a difference. The other bad thing is that I lost my insurance 2 mo after surgery and I've only seen my surgeon once in Nov once in Dec and once about a month ago (had to self pay) so I haven't had regular blood work or follow up. I am happy with what I've lost so far, but its difficult reading about all the amazing success stories, and I had hoped to be at goal by now.

Hi, I totally feel your pain..... I went for 3 months or so and had'nt lost one damn pound!!!!!! I was also exercising and trying to be good and wasn't losing. I thought for sure that was it, and I was shocked to get on that scale and see that I had dropped another 4 lbs... I've lost a total of 95 lbs . the thing that really got me was that people constantly tell me that I'm still shrinking. I never wanted to measure myself, but that could have been it, I could have been gaining muscle and losing fat since I jog for exercise. I so want to be at 165 I don't know if I'm ever gonna see it, or see less than a size 14. God, all I want is to be a 10, not even an 8. But again, friends and coworkers constantly tell me , don't lose too much more, but they don't weigh 194 lbs... Please don't beat yourself up, tryand remember you are so much thinner than you were 10 months ago.. There are alot of us in the same boat, hang in there. Can you call the nutritionist at your WLS???? Mine has been really good about calling me back when I had a question... Good luck and keep up the good work!!!!!!! Paula

Hi Belinda, I am right there with you only 81 pounds down. I read a post on the main board that said the average weight loss is as follows: 2 months out 27 - 44 6 months out 48 - 100 I guess if we are withing these ranges in the beginning stages of our WLS we are right on target. I figuered out my range and I had lost 37 pounds by two months and 65 by six months. I have been stuck since August but haven't gained thank goodness. So hopefully by sticking to the program the pounds will come off eventually even if it takes us slow pokes longer then others. Stay the course and hopefully it will come off in time. Good Luck your doing great Darlene 309/228/??? -81

Thanks for all your support. If I could just say goodbye to the 200's I know I would feel alot better. I am doing things at the gym (equipment) that I never would of tried 10 m0s ago. If I could get down to a 12/14 that would be great. As much as I love my doctor if he hadn't said "you should end up at 150" I probably wouldn't feel like such a failure. I haven't seen the scales move in almost 12 weeks and I'm exercising like crazy and hardly eating at all only when I'm hungry (starving) so somethings got to give. As soon as I get some insurance I will go back to my surgeon and also get a plastic surgeon consult. In the mean time I plan on going to the Bariatric conference in Ft Lauderdale Oct 22nd maybe I'll get some ideas there. www.usbariatrics.com Thanks again for all your support pray for us Belinda ps maybe we should start a slow loosers page rny11/04/03 280/210

I truely understand your plight. I am 10 mos (11/10/03)out down 95 lbs since surgery (130lbs from my highest)and haven't lost a lb in 9 weeks. I am about 205 and the scale doesn't move! I work out 3x a week, eat about 1200-1400 calories (low fat, low but not no carb) a day. I tell my self that even if I never loose another lb it would be worth it, as long as I keep the weight off. I am thinking of going to weigh****chers but I doubt their food plan is much different than mine, nor is it lower in calories. I too would like to know the secret or continued weight loss

Belinda, Your definitely not alone. I have only lost 75lbs since surgery on 11/7/03 and 110 since my highest weight of 320 last year. I have been plateauing like mad. Months it seems like at a time. I was stuck at 220 for probably 2-3 months before I finally got slowly down to the 210 I am now. Which I have been stuck at for 3 weeks now. We just bought a multi-gym that has pretty much everything, so I am hoping that adding the weight training to my bike riding & aerobics will help kick the metabolism up. Though I know I should probably do part of my workout in the am before work, I just can't get myself up early enough to do it. Just wanted to let you know your not alone. I know exactly how you feel! Cheer up, I just remind myself that I still feel great & wouldn't go back for anything. Even if I got stuck here forever, I would still be happy. Though, I am going to do my darndest to say good by to the 200's by my last Surgeon appt on 11/10.
