Finally getting protein in!!
Hello!
I am 10 months out and am just now finally able to get all my protein in daily. I have struggled since surgery but just never could find a protein supplement that I could tolerate. And trying to get in all the required grams by food was just impossible. I just can't eat that much! So I started experimenting with tasteless protein (Any Whey) and this is what I have come up with and its become a staple in my diet! I thought I would share in case any of you are struggling to.
1 4 oz Dannon light and fit blueberry yogurt
1/2 cup frozen mix berries (strawberries, raspberries & blueberries)
1 scoop any whey protein powder
1/2 tray of ice cubes
1 tbl spoon of splenda
I stick it in the blender and blend till smooth. It is so yummy.....
150 calories
0 fat
20 carbs (from the yogurt & fruit)
21 grams of protein
You can get creative and mix up the flavors. Tonight I am drinking one using strawberry yogert, 1/4 cup frozen strawberries and 1/2 banana.
Hope this helps anybody who hasn't been able to find a protein shake they like!!

Hi Dawn,
Thanks for you reply. I am only trying to get in my doctors min. of 50 grams a day. It seems no matter how hard I try I can't get it in without supplementing w/ a protein drink. Can you share with me an example of what you eat in a day that your able to get all your protein in? I have tried and tried I am just not able to eat that much. I had the banding with my GBP so that maybe my problem. I am never hungry and when I eat I am lucky if I can get in 2 to 4 oz. at a time. Its rare I get in 4 oz just depends on what it is.
Thanks!
Kim
Morning snack: Dannon Carb control yogurt: 5g's
Breakfast :2oz Chicken with cheese melted over it 18 g's
Lunch: Grilled chicken salad with cheese 18 g's
Snack: Carb control yogurt 5 g's
Dinner: Steak or chicken with a salad or green beans. 19 g's
Snack: Dorito's edge tortilla chips 10 g's
I cannot eat eggs, so i usually have meat for breakfast. I feel like i eat all day too. The Dorito's edge tortilla chips are made from soy, so they are very high in protien and low in carbs. I know I am not getting in my right amount of calories, but i have a slow metabolism and gain with as little as 1100 calories.
If you prefer eggs, a large egg contains 8 g's of protien.
Hope this helps you out a little.

All this comes out to 75 g's of protein and 28 g's of fat and 17 carbs
