forgive me for misspellings. They need to add a spell check to this. Has anyone experienced problems with low B-12 vitaimins? My WLS Doc; is testing everyone at every appointment for B-12 levels. I guess it shows up as joint pain; or numbness. I know a few people have had to begin B-12 shots as they were not asorbing it as they should. One had major problems and spent a couple of months in the hospital before they figured it all out. She is just now able to walk again with the help of a walker or cane. Just wondering what other WLS Docs are doing about this. I hear it is becoming a major concern with WLS.

My surgeon didn't even bother to test--he offered me a prescription for pills or a monthly B12 shot. I opted for the injection and have been taking it since January. I feel great and my tests have all been normal.

I have beeen giving myself the B12 shots from the begining. I can really tell when I need one. I get kind of tired and then I give my shot to myself and with in 24 hours I feel so much better. Stacy 250/174/??

I bought sublingual B-12 pills from Wal-Mart. I was taking them daily but when I went to my 6 month check-up my surgeon told me to only take them 3 times a week because my B-12 was above what it needed to be. The brand is Rexall and the cost about $4 bucks for 200 tiny pills.

I have been taking B-12 pills under the tongue since surgery. I get them at Trader Joes they are under $10 for 100 pills. The dissolve instantly and since my blood tests I seem to be doing fine according to my PCP and surgeon. Darlene 309/232/???

My surgeon has a huge list of things he checks at 3 months, 6 months, 12 months, 18 months, and then annually for life. B-12 is on the list but no special supplements unless needed. Carolyn DS 11/03/03 317/184
