Hi Belinda How much have you lost so far? Also how many calories are you getting in each day? I also belive that you aren't drinking enough water. You need at least 80 oz each day. Also, since you are exercising, you may have more muscle. How many sizes have you dropped? Please post a sample menu of what you are eating. Maybe we will be able to see something that your eating or drinking that may be making you stall. ((((HUGS)))) Dawn

Hi Belinda, I had my surgery 11/10/04 and have lost 76 pounds to date. The scale goes up and down but since I continue to lose each month I am happy. I work out about 3 times a week, try to get all my protein in a day at least 80 or more grams and all my fluids. I have gone from a 30/32 to a 18/20 and feel GREAT! I am 5' 2" and seem to be losing slower then others too. I try not to compare myself to others because it was driving me crazy I am sure we will get to goal, keep up the good work. You're doing great. I had that plateau problem too. I am down 75 lbs now and had my rny on 11/26/03. I upped my calories and I am loosing again. not much but like an extra 500 calories a day some days. I had a hard time when I hit the 200 mark. My body didn't want to get rid of any more weight it seemed like. I also was stuck at the 190's and 180's and now I will get stuck at the 170's I am sure. It does come off. You'll make it. Me too mee toooooo!!!! Plateau seems like my middle name - but the 72 lbs that are gone are GONE. 38 lbs left to get to the goal set by the doctor [and the tummy tuck will take care of the goal set by ME!]

It comes off at different rates. Personally, I think the longer the fats been on your body, the longer its going to take to come off. IE the 40 lbs I gained right before surgery came off faster than the lbs I'm trying to lose now which have been on me for about a decade.

I am with you on the plateaus. I am still stuck but at least am down to 215 instead of 220. I have upped my exercise (bike riding 30mins to 1 hr every day instead of 3-4x a week) and weight training every other day or so. Plus walking as much as possible. I have also been trying to REALLY watch what I eat. I think Renee has a point, I have always been heavy in fact I weighed 195-205 all through High School and went from 195 to 250 in the span of 1 year (20-21yrs old) then the rest 250-320 took about 7 yrs. Now I am down below where I weighed (about 240-250) when I got Married back in 1996. So where I am at now is almost to where I had been for MANY Years. Thing was I was also EXTREMELY active in HS, even though I was that fat. I played Basketball, Soccer, Softball & Tennis all through Jr High & High Scholls. So it probably shouldn't surprise me that it's starting to get really tough to get the scale to move down again. Anyway, cheer up, we have all hit these points plus we are all different, so don't comapre yourself. Believe me I know it's hard not to. I have lost 105lbs from my heaviest weight but "only" 70 since surgery on 11/7. We have to remember everyone has a unique experience with this. As long as your feeling good physically (the mentally is the more difficult) remind yourself of where you were just those short 8 months ago & how much has REALLY changed. We'll get to goal eventually, just gotta keep fighting for it & realize how much better we are now.
