Problems with BM'S
Hi;
I'm the same way. I spoke with my WLS Doc at my last visit and he suggested stool softeners. I have exlax at home and usually once a week; I take them. If your taking Iron that may also cause issues. Pre-Op; i was regular usually once sometimes 2x a day. But now.... well, everyother day is becoming the norm.

Belinda,
This is one of those things that changes after surgery. You eat less, so you go less. There are a number of other factors that influence this as well. Calcium is one item that causes constipation and so is a lack of fiber. If you go check the library you'll find a number of different suggestions regarding this topic. One that seems to work for most people is adding flax seed to your diet. You get them fresh and grind up a tablespoon or two a day and mix it in with your food. It's full of fiber and helps most people get regular naturally. You may want to give it a try. Do a search on Just Tooter because she is the flax queen and has answered all kinds of questions on the topic.
Hope this helps!

Try colace. It's an over the counter stool softener. It is very mild, but one will get you going within 12 to 48 hours, but no pain, gas, or diarrhea. I used it myself in the begining when I had trouble. I started out taking MOM, but that stuff is way too strong for me! Our systems are jsut differnt now and I wouldn't seat it too much. I went 7 days before I acted on it. Now I go pretty regularly.
Hope this helps, Kristen
