All liquid? Why not learn to eat balanced?
WARNING... This is my opinion. Maybe you can consider this post as the devils advocate to this phenomonom. Since this topic comes has up frequently, I am feeling the need to bring out some of my questions as to the rationale behind this. This is all in reference to the "All liquid Monday" routine.
Before posts come back with it being a jump start for your system... think about this:
1) Why did you have this surgery?
2)Was it not to become healthy by eating a balanced diet in small portions as WLS has become the best opportunity for you to be successful at obtaining long term weight loss?
3)Are you not questioning the need at just 7-8 months out to have to "Jump Start" your GI system to the feel of immediately post op?
4) Are you aware that plateaus are common along the journey post WLS?
5)Are you aware that the reason for being on a liquid diet post op is not just for us to loose weight fast, but it is more for our safety as our body is healing, and our system is coming out of the shock of being altered.
It is hard enough in my opinion to change patterns that I have had in my lifetime, and I am just happy to know that I am doing the prescribed diet daily that my Doctor recommends, along with my Dietician. And at this point in my journey to health... I am succeeding at it. I eat appropriate foods in limited quantities. I am not on a "DIET".
For all that do this routine... More power to you, but honestly... I am glad NOT to be doing this one day a week liquid thing. I had enough diets in my life that frankly have never been successful as to any long term result by doing drastic changes from the normal. The only thing that doing a "liquid day" in MY OPINION, is to set yourself up for dissapointment if you for some reason take a bite of solid food... (In comes guilt) or if you happen to not loose any additional weight, or perhaps even gain a pound (Now in comes the feeling of failure) And if you really think that the liquid has any bearing on you losing weight, I would really question at this point, what are you eating that is preventing you from losing? Are you exersizing enough? Is your fluid intake on all the other days adequate?
Thank you for reading my thoughts. ENJOY YOUR DAY.

Could not have posted better on this myself. On the Texas message board someone honestly got her system messed up doing this and had to be hospitalized. I wanted to post this long ago but didnt want to spark up any kind of so I couldnt figure out how to post it. Kjr, kudos to you for speaking up to something that could potentionally be dangerous.

To me the danger aspect is scary. I know myself... If I fail to eat any solid food for any long time period... and I am talking having a meal even an hour late, I start to feel light headed. (and I am constantly having enough fluid.) I sometimes think that if people looking into WLS read the liquid day diet... that they might deter from having WLS, as they might think that this is required to have weight loss. I felt that I needed to let those people know that if you follow your Doctors advice, you WILL be successful.
Thanks,
Kj
