Hi all I belive that I have hit that dreaded six month wall. I am just gonna hang in there and eat right and hope that it will start again soon. Anybody else having the same problem? I am totally happy about my weight loss and if I don't lose anymore that I belive that I have done well for myself. I have gone from a size 24 to a size 9. I hope you all have a great day ((((HUGS)))) Dawn

Hey Dawn--how much have you lost altogether and what was your pre-op weight? Actually size 9 sounds pretty good to me, too. You may very well lose more but as you get closer to goal the weight loss slows down. Just keep doing what you are supposed to be doing, eating properly, lots of protein and exercise. Hi Carolyn I have lost a total of 86 pounds which puts me at 134 pounds. I know that sounds like I should be thin now, but I am only five feet tall. I would probably look normal in a size seven or five. Like I said, if I don't lose any more weight I will still be happy with my loss considering that I started out in a size 24. ((((HUGS)))) Dawn

OK, Dawn, I just ran your numbers: The "ideal" weight for someone who is 5'0", the number that would give you a BMI of 25, is 128 lbs. My surgeon uses a BMI of 25 because after years of obesity our bones are heavier than average and the number that gives a BMI of 20-23 is actually going to be too low for a realistic goal. So, using that number, you started out at 220, with 92 excess pounds. You have lost 86 of them, which is 93.4% of your excess weight, which is WAY better than average. And you got there in only a little over 6 months! Your results have been fantastic and I am sure a size 9 looks good on you. If I were in your shoes, I would go ahead and start buying a new wardrobe. I've been bouncing back and fourth between 209 and 207 for about 2 weeks, so I know what you mean. People tell me I look great and they say I look like I weigh much less than what I do. When I tell them I need to loose 50 more pounds, they say "From where?" I told my wife, I thought I was stuck and she said, "no, you're doing great!" So, that's what I'm going to tell you. You're doing great. We just gotta keep on doing the right stuff and all the rest of the excess weight will come off. Cecil 338/208

After hearing all your supportive replies, I have come to the decision that this is just a normal thing that happens. I do have to say that I think all of you are great. I don't know where I would be without this website and having all of you for support ((((HUGS)))) Dawn

I feel that I am stuck as well. I was doing so good in the beginning. I'm a little over six months out (I had my surgery 11/28/03) and am down 85 pounds. I was weighing 330 and am now weighing 245. I've gone from a size 28 to an 18/20. My energy level is down. I stay tired a lot. I just had a B12 shot last week. You would think that my level would be higher. But after a full day of work, all I want to do is come home and rest. I have no energy! (Any suggestions???) It also seems that I am losing from the top down. My face, my chest, some of my arms, upper part of abs. I need to lose in my stomach & thighs. Will it ever come???? Kristy

Hi Kristi What kind of things are you eating? Are you still taking your vitamins? Also, have you had your six month blood work? You may need some extra vitamins. My energy level is still pretty good, but I can tell when it is time for a shot. My hubby will probably give me one today. I find that when I eat too many carbs that my energy level drops. When I cut down on the carbs and eat mostly protein, my energy rises. I would talk to your doc and see what he/she has to say about your energy. I hope this helps a little. ((((HUGS)))) Dawn
