I decided not to take the diuretic I was contemplating and weighed in at 218.7 pounds--less than 2 pounds away from the century mark, but Dr. Smith still said I was ahead of profile. By the way, he uses a BMI of 25 for ideal weight--which makes sense as we know our bones are denser than average due to our history of morbid obesity. He didn't think I was taking enough supplements at first but my labs were all at the upper limit of normal so he said that was fine--I think it is because I eat so much healthy food--lots of eggs (eggs are chock-full of vitamins as well as protein), yogurt, red meats, and leafy green and bright red veggies. And he was thrilled that I was exercising five times a week. I am a happy camper. Wednesday I took my nieces to Dollywood and walked all over all day without any pain or shortness of breath and only normal fatigue at the end of the day. Every day one or more of my patients or associates comments on how well I look. I am so grateful I heard about the DS and about Dr. Smith and then had the resources to self-pay when my insurance declined to cover this life- saving, life-enhancing surgery!
