Hi I haven't been here in along time. Shame on me, this is what I need support. I know I can hear you all now, I have no one to blame but me. However, I just can't seem to loose the weight. My surgery was Nov. 4th I think can't even remember. GOSH, anyway, I have lost 50lbs. I know that is good but it seems I loose what I am going to loose right after I see my Doctor. Then when I go back in 6 to 9wks. I get this look like you should have lost more. I walk and I have alot of energy I drink the water. The food is a problem, can't seem to eat much of anything good. I can eat junk food and nothing bothers me. I don't want this to fail,or should I say I don't want to fail myself. I would really like to know what you all eat so maybe I can try something that I haven't tried and it will stay down. I appreciate you all listening to me whine, sorry. Thanks and God Bless you all. Hi Annette I think you really need a big ((((HUG)))). Then you need to get yourself in gear and go thru your house and throw out all your junk food If it's not there then you will not eat it. Also you really need to see a nutritionist. How much are you eating at one sitting? Are you snacking thru the day? Also are you getting enough vitamins? Try going out and buying chicken breasts and veggies and living off that for a few days until you get all those bad carbs out of your system. If you need to talk then just e-mail me your number and I will give you a call. ((((HUGS)))) Dawn

I have issues too with a lot of the stuff that is so good for us! Yet the junk stuff goes down without problem. Go figure. Sigh. The best advice I can give you is to just keep trying new good foods. Try new ways of cooking the stuff. And be prepared to face facts...some of the good stuff will never be enjoyed again. I had to admit...I was in love with chicken. Now...no more. I can't even smell it without wanting to gag. Also...for healthy snacking...stick to low fat stuff like prezels (some have high protein content, so check packages!) and good fat stuff like nuts. I found these corn chips (like fritos) that are only 5 grams of fat a serving (.5 of that is saturated) and only 80 calories and somehting like 8 grams of protein per 1 oz serving. These make for a good snack when I just need to feel like I'm being bad! -94 lbs and 50 from goal LAP RNY 11.11.03

Don't beat yourself up, some lose slower than others. Use your tool and go back to basics. If it still isn't working, contact your surgeon for a consultation. Laura -67 11/4/03 240/173/135

Hi Annette, I'm 6 months post op, I had my op same date as you, and I have to say everything has been great, there's been a couple of hiccups along the way, trying to eat too much too soon and eating the wrong food too soon all my own fault, I've lost nearly 6 stones in the past 6 months, I lost 4 stone in the first 3 half months, but things have slowed down, just like my surgeon said it would, I think you have done really well to loose 5o lbs, not everyone will loose the same weight over the same time, so give yourself a big pat on the back and be proud of what you have accomplished so far, having said that, if you don't start to control your eating habits (junk food) now, you may suffer for it in the long term, your body can't be getting the nutricians it needs with junk food, and as everyone knows junk food is high in calories, and it's the amount of calories that goes into the body that makes us put weight on, especially if we don't burn most of them off through exercise, it would be such a waste if you didn't try that little bit harder to watch what your eating. Even though I can only eat a small portion for each meal I still make sure it's healthy food, I try to have a glass of milk as soon as I get up, I take a multivitamin tablet, 1 cod-liver oil tablet and evening primrose oil tablet with my milk, I only have 1 slice of bread (toasted) in the morning for breakfast with anything on it, but that's my lot as far as bread is concerned, it fills me up really fast, I don't see the point in trying to eat a sandwich during the day, as I'm not getting the nutricians I need, for lunch I have a chopped salad with either chicken or prawns or tuna, for afternoon snack I always have chopped fresh fruit salad, then for my evening meal it's usually half of one of those ready meals, (I can only manage to eat half of one) i.e. Cottage pie, vegetable bake, or some sort of fish dish, I don't cook much as there's only me to cook for, but sometimes I'll do a small amount of stir fry veggies and add a bit of chilli sauce, I don't eat sweet puddings or ice cream or cakes etc., I try to eat as healthy as possible, I feel it's the least I can do after what I feel has been to take the easy option having by-pass surgery. I say easy option, simply because the will power needed to loose weight has been taken out of my hands and I have no choice but to eat very little, how easy is that, I truly admire and give praise were deserved to the people out there who have managed to loose weight through a calorie controlled diet, I only wish I could have done it, (would have saved me a few grand at least) Hope I've helped you a little Annette, and keep up the good work
