Hi everyone, I've been reading alot of post and getting alot of good information. But I'm feeling really disappointed in myself cause I'm not losing the weight like you all are, I think it may have to do with my eating habit, sometimes I only eat once or twice a day and I dont eat alot just what I should, I know I'm not getting in my 64oz of water daily and more than likely I'm not getting in my protein, I really havent given it much thought that this is all that wrong but I think I just dont know what the benefits of these things can do for me, I am also only walking maybe twice a week for 20-30 minutes, so I'm sure this is a problem but please tell me how the protein works and why its important and the water how does that affect things and my vitamins why are they important? I need some reenforcement. I have lost a total of 65lbs and thats all. Dont get me wrong I'm happy for the loss but I know I'm not doing something right things have got to improve. Any Information would greatly be appreciated. thank you.

You are not alone. You are doing great, and so am I . I had surgery on 11/4. Down 67 lbs. Slow, I know, but it adds up. Laura 240/173/135

My loss has been slow too! I have lost a total of 63 pounds since November 4th 2003. Very slow! I have been at a plateau for about 3 weeks now where I have lost nothing. Even with an increase in my exercise & protein. I do not get in all of my water every day. Sometimes I can't even finish a 16 oz bottle of water. Before surgery I never had trouble getting in my water, but now I just can't seem to do it. I have also noticed an increase in the amount of food I can eat & I seem to get hungry a little more often than I used to. sigh, I know it has to slow down sooner or later, but I was hoping it would be later..... Good luck to you! Priscilla 198/135/130 -63lbs

Hi. I can sympathesize with what you are saying. I am at 5 1/2 months and I have 85 off. I have friends that were at 100 or more off by 5 months and I'm not there yet. What I found is that I CANNOT compare myself to anyone but me. This is the biggest thing I learned that has helped me keep my sanity and maintain a positive attitude. Do yourself a favor and don't compare yourself to others because it will just put you in a negative frame of mind when you don't think you are doing as well. Drink protein EVERY day, exercise, drink at least 48-64 oz. of water and eat healthy and as long as you are doing this, the weight WILL come off. I know that I am doing what I need to do and that in time, the lbs. will come off. It's about believing in what you are doing and being committed to it...in the end, it comes down to believing in YOU!! Take care and I hope this helps! Karen

Ok. Not entirely sure here WHY...but I know it works! Water seems to make the fat flow out better (at least, this is my theroy). Aim to drink about 100 oz (or more) a day. It can be water, iced tea, hot tea, crystal light..etc. Watch the fat content in the foods you eat. They can sneak up on you. Protein protects us from losing muscle mass INSTEAD of fat. It also gives our bodies energy it needs to survive (since we aren't eating a whole lot of calories...aim to be around 800 at this point). I will tell you that I'm getting in around 40 grams of protein a day (which is about 10 grams less than my surgeon recommends). I eat 1-2 meals of red meat (high protein, but lean cuts) (like steak no ground beef) a week and a lot of veggies and lunchmeats (like turkey). I live on cheeses...all kinds...just crave them. I drink about 80-100 oz of tea a day (can't drink water without getting sick). I execise about 4-5 days a week, walking for about 40 minutes (usually twice a week I would consider an actual hike, up over the hills and woods near my house). And I swing on the swings at the play ground (now that I don't fear their collapse under my weight!) Water I believe is key to weight loss. Hell, to be honest I think you COULD (though its not healthy!!!!) eat crappy foods all day long as long as you drank a ton of water, you'd still lose weight! I am down 94 lbs and 50 from goal.
