Hello November buddies. I have been cheating daily. Everyday I wake up and say I am not going to cheat today and then I cheat. I have not lost a pound in 3 weeks because I am eating candy, cookies, dry ceral, pretzels, etc. I have lost 71 lbs, but I am not ready to give up. Is anyone else having this problem or overcome it. Thanks.

Wendy; Don't beat yourself up...your only human....and at least you realize what your doing....your consious about what you put in your mouth...like everyone said...we had surgery on our stomaches NOT our brain....just pick yourself up...dust off....and get back on the right road to your success...your doing an amazing job....You have lost 71 lbs. that is a great achivement and you should be proud of yourself....I have only lost 49 lbs....OK...Here's what my openion is about what you should do...make a deal with yourself ..if you cheat and eat something you know is bad for you ..you will increase your excersize ...whether is a couple more minutes on a the treadmill or a couple more blocks of walking...but if you cheat you will pay the price...by a few more minutes of excersize. Good luck and keep up the great work.

GR, I think this is great advice. I've only lost 48 lbs but the way I figure it, if I can keep pushing on the exercise, something's gotta give here sooner or later. I've read recently that many people experience an extended plateau in their 3rd or 4th month. Wendy -- best wishes to you. I have this for myself that the key is progress not perfection. I think the major is to be the one in charge of what you're eating so if you need a treat every now and then maybe try to find a way to integrate into your plan rather than eating on impulse. Best, Kathy

I discovered soon after surgery that I did not dump on sweets, only grease and fats. I am a sweet a holic. I have always been and prolly always will be. The big difference in me now is that I have a bite or two not the whole bag or box

Well first of all 71 pounds is awesome, your doing really well. I have lost 80 and I too have cheated a few times. My suggestion is getting sugar free candy if your going to do it. I had the biggest sweet tooth before surgery and I thought I would really have a hard time dealing with it after, but I didn't until this last month, month and a half. My friends brought me some sugar free hersheys bars, minitures. And I treat myself to one a week or every two weeks, or I will have a sugar free sweet and low candy. I know that probably isn't good either but its better then regular sweets. Also you need to remember how much you used to eat before and you know your not doing that now, so give yourself some slack. Just keep up the good work and exercise and you will be fine.

I feel for you. There are days that I think I spent the whole day eating and then feel guilty. When I look back and add it all up it wasn't that much. If you're going to cheat try to cheat wisely. Try sugar-free candies, jello and cookies and cheese and crackers. Some dry cereals are actually good for you, just pick one that has the lowest net carbs and is not pre-sweetened!! Try to up your water and your protein and of course exercise as much as you can. That way even if you do slip a little you can make up for it in other ways! 71 pounds is a great loss! You're doing good. Remember, at least you're not eating the whole package of pretzels, cookies, etc. Take care and be good. I have faith in you!!

I wish I could give you some encouragement, but I can so relate. I do the samething each day and have not lost anything in almost 2 months, so be careful!!!!!!!!! I have no will power and think of food most of the day. I would love to not be able to eat all of the junk foods or sweets, but I was one of the lucky (not) ones who doesn't get sick from sugars. Hope all gets better for you. Cathy

I am feeling for you. I have not lost alot either. I have found myself eating some sugar free but not as well balanced meals as I could do (I think).

Wendy, Sometimes I snack on peanuts, cashews, beef jerky, or cheese. These all have protein and it has not slowed down my weight loss. I've even had some pork skins (no carbs). I guess the thing is, if you have to snack, try to make wise choices. And don't beat yourself up when you feel like you've blown it. Just take it a day at a time. Remember what all you've gone through. It takes a lot of courage to do what we've done and so far you have done great! Hang in there and the scale will start moving to the left again. God Bless you!
