Okay we all should be officially 3 months post op by know. I must admitt I am not perfect. I eat about 4 meals a day, drink a shake if at all poss. I try to keep milk for protein. I know it has fat but I get skim milk/fat free. I drink 24 oz of it a day. I drink maybe 30-40 ounces of decaf ice tea. My meals are not so great. I eat tuna on crackers??? Girl Scout cookies have come in and I grab at least one or two a night. Count it as a meal. Bad habit to start. I eat scrambled eggs, veggie pizza and cashews. I eat veggie soup. My main thing is fluids I find it so easy to down them. I fear I have stretched my stomach. I have no feeling of full yet. I never eat over the two medicine cups. I just feel down. My weight loss is good but I am falling back in to old poor eating habits. Any suggestions. Anyone else following this track. I need some input from others as to what you are eating.. Please I am begging you.

The last thing you should feel is shame! Don't do that to yourself. It took a lifetime to develop poor eating habits - a few hours on an operating table and a few cuts with a scalpel is not going to change that. You've given yourself a wonderful tool to help you lose weight - dwell on the positives. The bad habits will only go away if there are good ones to replace them with - you have some great snacks going on there - tuna, vegetable soup, cashews, eggs - those are great things to reach for when you feel hungry. I have issues as well from time to time with snacking - ever since I discovered sugar was not a problem for me, I want sweets at night - I'm trying very hard to stay away from them - it will always be a challenge - I've/We've just got to accept that. My suggestion to you is to go back to JOURNALLING. If you write down everything that you're eating, doing, saying, feeling whether it's good or bad, you'll be much more able to find patterns in your life that you'd like to change. Well that's my advice for the day - keep in touch with how you're doing. Take Care !!! Sheri Byrne

Never be ashamed, I too struggle with the bad eating habits and I am a nurse! you would think we would KNOW!! but we are all human. I work second shift so it is so hard for me to find a pattern to settle into. SO my late night snack has consisted of Lite Icy tea and a bag of peanut butter M and M's it is a wonder that i lose weight. My surgeon said my cravings that I had in the past will subside and as of a month ago i disagreed as i downed a peanut butter egg, however this month I am finding that even though I think I want choclate once I taste it I know longer want it anymore. The taste just is ICK.. so I think its alot to do with psycological thinking. I had my first band fill at the beginning of Feb. and I didnt feel full either but slowly i am, I have found if I eat really slow like they want us too that is when I start to feel it. I have a tendency to scarf my food down because that is what i am use too. So along with learning to eat healthy i am trying to retrain myself to eat SLOW. I think eating slow is the key and also, you probably don't feel full because of all the liquid stuff you consume. I was told that if you eat soups and shakes that those types of foods just slip through you banding, unlike other food like eggs, and bread etc it takes more time to go through the band in turn giving you that full feeling. Also, we all had different size stomachs so maybe one band fill for you isn't going to cut it. It is alway**** or miss with the filling of them either its too much or not enough or just right. So when you go back for another filling just tell the doctor what you have been feeling so he can adjust your band accordingly. YA know what? I dont even know if you had the gastric banding or not! so this will probably only help if ya did! lol Sorry but anyways atleast you know that we all are struggling with bad eating habits!

I think Regina had a RNY procedure done, like myself - not a band. I almost had the band but my surgeon discouraged me from doing it - I see people who have had it done having amazing success - How is it working for you? I agree with the psychological thing though - it is the hardest part of this whole procedure - hands down! Good luck to you !! Happy losing!!

Don't be ashamed. No one said it would be easy. I can eat more than 2 medicine cups when it comes to liquids (like soup) and maybe a little more with real food. I think I am doing okay (down 75lb). I do avoid bread and I dump on sugar. Just be aware of what you are doing. You are eating 2 cookies, not the whole pack, Do not be so hard on yourself!

I am doing great I have lost 52 pounds so far so I only have about 60 more to go til my goal weight. I am almost half way there and its only been three months I would highly recommend the banding to anyone, less complications and there is no weight loss window as there is with the gastric bypass. I can keep losing weight as long as I want to. I am glad you are doing good too. Keep me posted! Gwen
