Hi, I haven't tried anything with sugar in it. haven't dared yet. has anyone else done sugar?? they told me not to have it in the beginning and so i have been buying everything sugar free. i wondered if it would have to be like this forever or if we can have sugar eventually. Thanks Stacy

Hi Stacy.... Just to let you know, I have tried some types of food with sugar... hopeing to get sick... only because I know in my heart of hearts, if I didn't, then I would most likely eventually push my limits... ( we all know if willpower and good eating habits were that easy, we wouldn't be here!! ) However, I was very cautious, but was able to tolerate the sugar in the foods. I tried a bite of cake w/ icing... and a few other food items. I know now I have a new challange because I had no issues, but I do use MODERATION. I would just tell you based on only my experience, if you don't miss it... don't try it... but who am I to say... I did. I wish you the best.....~ Jess

I have no issues with sugar. I can eat most everything. I agree with the post above me, I wish I did have issues with it - that would make life so much easier. But come to find out, only 30% of RNY patients will experience dumping. A lot of people will have diarreah or an upset stomach and think they're dumping, but dumping is MUCH more severe than that - and most of us don't ever experience it. But like this other smart person said, if you don't miss it - don't try it. Good luck, keep up the good work. Sheri Byrne

I've tried things with sugar; some I dump with others I don't. I even tried some so-called sugar free stuff only to find that it contains sugar alcohol which made me sicker than a dog. everyone is different; and I agree with the previous post; if you don't miss it don't try it. But remember the surgery is only a tool to help us lose weight. We need to be mindful of what we eat and how we take care of our new bodies. mark g.

I have to agree with the others. I do not have a problem with sugar. It was the sugar-free things that made me ill. Just remember that wls is a tool not a punishment.I just do not eat thing with surgar in them every day like i did in the past. Just listen to your body it will let you know.
