Streaching you new pouch

I have a question, I am two months out and saw my surgeon yesterday and he asked me what I was eating and how much. I started to explain to him what I eat and he asked me how do I know I am full, do I feel it in my pouch in the middle of my chest. I said not really but sometimes I feel it creeping up my throat. He then said I was eating too much and stretching out my new pouch. I don't eat like that all the time to where I feel it in my throat it has happened a few time, I have only threw up twice since my surgery, once because of greasy hash brown and once because I waited too long to eat between meals and ate to fast and threw up froth. But otherwise I am eating small meals and stopping when I feel full and getting in my protein first then what ever else. Now after what my surgeon said I am scared I am going to ruin my new stomach and I did all this for nothing. The surgeon said to make sure I only eat a ½ cup of protein at one time. Is that a ½ cup of food period at one time or can I get veggies and potatoes etc. in too? Does anyone have any suggestions; I would greatly appreciate you in put. Thanks Darlene RNY 11/10/04 309/269

The same thing was said to me.. My WLS was on 11/24/03 My DR wants me to lose 5lbs a wee****il I reach my goal of 160 Today I am 230.. He wants me to eat 1 oz of food both lean meat and Green leafy vegetables three times a day. He explained It this way. We have this window of weight loss and if we don't stick to the diets we are prescribed then we will slow down and screw up things in the long run. possibly gain the weight back. This Diet is for only until we lose our weight. Then we will have, 1. done the behavior modifications. 2. Made goal weight. 3. With this combination We will Never to go back. This is what my DR said Good luck Deborah

Read around this site and you will find that some doc's will tell you it can stretch and other will say it cannot...There seems to be some disagreement on what "stretching" means anyway...Is it the volume of food you can eat a YEAR after surgery vs. Immediately post op? Of course that will be different...does that mean it STRETCHED. In my mind, NO. It means you've HEALED. Frankly, I'm very bitter about all of these doctors abusing their authority and scaring the hell out of people. Eat sensibly. Eat slowly. Drink your water. Move your rear end each day into a good sweat...and never look back. If you doubt or question your doctor's advice, do your research and QUIZ HIM. Make him PROVE he knows what he's talking about.
